The Manager – IT Systems & Infrastructure will be responsible for the end-to-end administration, security, availability, and compliance of the organization’s IT infrastructure.
This role will manage servers, networks, endpoints, Microsoft 365, identity and access controls, IT assets, vendors, and day-to-day IT operations. The role will also play a key part in implementing and maintaining ISO 27001 controls across IT systems, ensuring that infrastructure, access, backups, documentation, and operational processes meet internal security and compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate should be hands-on, structured, security-conscious, and capable of leading IT operations in a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Systems, Server & Endpoint Administration
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux, Windows, and macOS systems across servers and end-user devices.
- Manage server configuration, patching, hardening, monitoring, uptime, and performance.
- Configure and maintain endpoint devices including laptops, desktops, printers, and peripherals.
- Ensure timely OS updates, antivirus/EDR coverage, disk encryption, device compliance, and secure baseline configurations.
- Monitor infrastructure health and proactively resolve issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, SOPs, and recurring operational activities.
2. Identity, Access & User Lifecycle Management
- Manage user onboarding, role changes, access reviews, and offboarding across systems and business applications.
- Administer identity and access management tools such as Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory / Google Workspace, as applicable.
- Implement and monitor SSO, MFA, conditional access, password policies, privileged access, and least-privilege access controls.
- Maintain access control records and support periodic access reviews as required under ISO 27001.
- Coordinate with department heads to ensure users have appropriate access based on role and business need.
3. Network Administration
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security.
- Manage internet links, ISP relationships, firewall rules, VPN access, and network segmentation.
- Plan network capacity and recommend upgrades based on business growth and security requirements.
- Maintain network diagrams, configuration backups, and change records.
4. Microsoft 365 / Cloud Collaboration Administration
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, and related security features.
- Manage user provisioning, licensing, mailbox configuration, groups, distribution lists, and data retention settings.
- Configure and monitor MFA, conditional access, device management, data sharing, and collaboration controls.
- Support email security, anti-phishing controls, spam protection, and mailbox governance.
- Ensure appropriate backup, retention, and recovery processes for business-critical collaboration data.
5. Information Security & ISO 27001 Implementation
- Implement and maintain IT controls aligned with ISO 27001:2022 requirements.
- Support the creation, implementation, and enforcement of IT policies, SOPs, asset controls, access controls, change management, backup processes, incident response, and disaster recovery plans.
- Maintain audit evidence for IT controls including asset inventory, access reviews, backup logs, change records, patching records, incident logs, and vendor reviews.
- Support internal audits, external audits, risk assessments, corrective actions, and management reviews.
- Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and auditors to close ISO 27001 compliance gaps.
- Drive security practices including endpoint hardening, encryption, secure configuration, vulnerability remediation, and incident response readiness.
6. Backup, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
- Ensure reliable backup processes for critical servers, systems, and business data.
- Periodically test backup restoration and maintain evidence of backup success and recovery testing.
- Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity procedures for IT systems.
- Identify infrastructure risks and recommend mitigation plans.
- Ensure critical systems have documented recovery objectives, ownership, and escalation paths.
7. Hardware, Software & IT Asset Management
- Oversee procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement of laptops, desktops, servers, networking equipment, printers, and peripherals.
- Maintain an accurate IT asset inventory including ownership, serial numbers, warranty, configuration, location, and lifecycle status.
- Manage software licenses, renewals, compliance, and usage tracking.
- Perform or supervise basic hardware upgrades and repairs such as RAM, storage, battery, and component replacements.
- Coordinate with vendors and AMCs for warranty claims, repairs, replacements, and service support.
8. Vendor & Service Provider Management
- Manage relationships with IT vendors, ISPs, hardware providers, software providers, cloud service providers, and support partners.
- Track vendor SLAs, renewals, escalations, contracts, and performance.
- Evaluate vendors for reliability, cost, security, and business fit.
- Coordinate procurement and renewals while ensuring proper approvals and documentation.
- Maintain vendor risk and due diligence records as required for ISO 27001.
9. Team Management & IT Operations
- Lead and mentor the IT administration team.
- Allocate daily tasks, review performance, and ensure timely closure of IT support requests.
- Define and improve IT support processes, escalation paths, SOPs, and service standards.
- Ensure IT tickets, incidents, changes, assets, and recurring checks are properly tracked.
- Work with business teams to improve IT reliability, user experience, and security awareness.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong hands-on experience in Linux, Windows, and macOS administration.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including LAN, WAN, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and Wi-Fi.
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 at an organizational level.
- Experience with identity and access management, MFA, conditional access, SSO, endpoint management, and user lifecycle processes.
- Working knowledge of ISO 27001:2022 controls, IT policies, audit evidence, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
- Experience managing backups, patching, monitoring, endpoint security, asset inventory, and disaster recovery processes.
- Basic hardware troubleshooting skills including RAM, storage, battery, and component-level replacements.
- Strong vendor management, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work hands-on while also managing a small team and driving process discipline.
Preferred Certifications
- ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Internal Auditor
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator / Endpoint Administrator / Security Administrator
- CCNA or CCNP
- ITIL Foundation
- Linux / Windows Server administration certifications
- Cloud or security certifications such as AWS, Azure, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent
Qualifications & Experience
- 8+ years of progressive experience in IT administration, infrastructure, systems, networks, or endpoint management.
- Prior experience managing IT operations for a mid-sized or growing organization.
- Prior experience leading a small IT team or supervising IT support staff.
- Experience supporting ISO 27001 implementation, audit readiness, or information security controls is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing vendors, service providers, hardware procurement, software licensing, and IT budgets is preferred.
