Description
Role Description
Join the team responsible for innovating, automating, and operating Salesforce's massive-scale voice infrastructure. We are part of the Service Cloud organization, a dynamic global team delivering and supporting innovative, proactive multi-channel service for Salesforce customers, including Voice.
In this role, you will bring hands-on software engineering skills together with deep voice/telco infrastructure experience to build the automation, tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and observability systems that let a large-scale voice platform (PSTN, SIP, VoIP, SBCs) run reliably at 4+ 9s availability. You will design and code solutions — not just operate them — partnering closely with Voice Ops, SRE, and carrier/vendor teams.
Required Skills
- A related technical degree required.
- 5-8 years of combined software engineering + large-scale voice/telco infrastructure experience, including in Public Clouds.
- Strong hands-on software development background: designing, coding, testing, and owning production services/tools end-to-end (Python, Go, or Java).
- Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for infrastructure and services (Jenkins/CI tooling, Spinnaker or equivalent).
- Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration automation — Terraform, Ansible/Puppet/Chef.
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration — Docker, Kubernetes, Helm — for voice workloads.
- Experience operating/supporting a 24/7 voice system at scale with SLA of 4+ 9s availability.
- Ability to design and build comprehensive alerting/monitoring/observability systems (metrics, dashboards, automated remediation) for voice call-quality and infra issues.
- Capacity/scale planning: ability to build tooling and models to proactively plan voice infra capacity for unexpected traffic surges.
- Good understanding of security posture for VoIP networks; ability to automate security hardening and compliance checks across in-house and 3rd-party stack.
- Experience planning and automating maintenance activities for voice infrastructure with zero disruption to customer traffic.
- Excellent communication skills to proactively update stakeholders on voice-related issues or maintenance/deployment activity.
- Ability to work with customers to understand voice requirements/scale and translate them into automated, reference voice/network infrastructure solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt, be flexible, and learn quickly in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, prioritizing multiple concurrent projects with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines across several projects while responding to changing business and technical conditions.
- Hyperforce / GovCloud (FedRAMP) deployment awareness
- Good Knowledge on AWS cloud infrastructure
- Vault secrets rotation + IAM least-privilege
- Splunk, Grafana, Airflow/UIP observability stack
- IaC via pre-checkin-validated CloudFormation/Terraform (no manual console changes)
- Sev1/Sev2 bridge triage + RCA documentation participation
Desired Skills
- Experience with application protocols and troubleshooting (HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/UDP).
- Knowledge of Linux (RedHat) — configuration, packages, services, daemons, shells, troubleshooting.
- Experience in fast-paced, technical environments experiencing rapid growth and change.
- Experience with observability/monitoring stacks (e.g., Splunk, Grafana) and building custom instrumentation.
- Exposure to event streaming/data pipelines (e.g., Kinesis) for voice telemetry.
- Prior experience as a backend/platform engineer prior to moving into DevOps.
