About The Role
The Senior Manager, Digital Commerce (Technical Product Owner) is a specialized role within the Bioscience division, responsible for leading the technical strategy and delivery of the digital commerce platform. This position primarily focuses on enterprise integrations, including PunchOut and EDI, to facilitate seamless B2B customer workflows. The role is scoped exclusively to Bioscience and does not encompass the Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) segment. As a key driver of digital transformation, the Senior Manager will translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions, oversee business analysis activities, and ensure the successful execution of integrated systems. Acting as the technical product owner, this individual will collaborate closely with engineering, IT, and external partners to manage the product roadmap, prioritize backlog items, and deliver high-quality integrations. The role operates at both a strategic level—shaping the evolution of the platform—and a tactical level—guiding requirements, managing dependencies, and ensuring end-to-end delivery. This position demands a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, cross-functional coordination, and agile delivery management, all aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of Lonza's digital commerce capabilities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, product management experience, and industry knowledge. Essential qualifications include proven experience as a Technical Product Owner or Senior Product Manager within enterprise platform environments. Familiarity with SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) is required, along with a demonstrated ability to develop and manage product and integration roadmaps, prioritize features, and make informed trade-off decisions. Candidates should have a solid understanding of end-to-end commerce flows, system-to-system integrations, and B2B communication protocols such as PunchOut and EDI. Exposure to ERP systems, middleware, and integration platforms like SAP CPI or Mulesoft is highly desirable. Experience in regulated industries such as life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceuticals is advantageous, particularly with SAP Commerce PCM. Strong analytical skills, the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements, and experience working within Agile delivery environments are critical. Certifications in Product Ownership or Agile methodologies will be considered a plus. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the digital commerce product and integration roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities, customer needs, and technical dependencies across PunchOut, EDI, ERP, and commerce platforms.
- Continuously refine the roadmap and backlog based on business value, delivery learnings, integration complexity, and stakeholder feedback, making informed trade‑off decisions where required.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders (Sales, Customer Service, Commercial Operations) and technical teams (Engineering, IT, Integration partners) to ensure alignment on scope, priorities, and delivery outcomes.
- Facilitate cross‑functional discussions to gather requirements, clarify integration impacts, manage dependencies, and ensure shared understanding across teams.
- Translate business objectives and operational workflows into clear, actionable requirements and user stories, ensuring technical feasibility and end‑to‑end integration readiness.
- Lead cross‑functional planning and delivery for PunchOut and EDI initiatives, coordinating across internal teams and external partners to ensure predictable, high‑quality execution against the roadmap.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on roadmap progress, risks, dependencies, and timelines, proactively managing expectations and escalation where needed.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog, making trade‑off decisions based on business value, technical complexity, and integration impact.
- Participate in and lead Agile ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.
- Support release planning and deployment readiness for integration-heavy deliveries.
- Oversee and guide business analysis activities, ensuring requirements are complete, testable, and technically feasible, and providing final approval on scope, prioritization, and acceptance.
- Ensure strong Business Analyst practices across documentation, process flows, and integration requirements.
