Job Summary
We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to help bridge the gap between business opportunity and technical execution. This is a hands-on role that combines software engineering, solution design and business problem solving. You will work directly with operational teams, technology teams and leading AI vendors to identify opportunities, build solutions and deploy them into production environments. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across the full lifecycle of AI delivery - from understanding business processes and evaluating opportunities through to solution deployment, adoption and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Business Engagement & Solution Design
- Partner with business leaders and operational teams to understand workflows, challenges and improvement opportunities.
- Partner with Technology and Transformation teams to accelerate AI enablement
- Apply AI, automation and workflow technologies to improve business outcomes.
- Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Support the development of business cases and implementation plans.
Solution Development & Deployment
- Design, build and deploy AI-enabled applications, workflows and automation solutions.
- Develop integrations between AI platforms, enterprise systems and business applications.
- Build APIs, services and lightweight applications to support operational use cases.
- Rapidly prototype and test new solutions before scaling successful implementations.
- Ensure solutions meet appropriate standards for security, resilience and maintainability.
AI Delivery & Vendor Collaboration
- Work alongside AI vendors and technology partners to evaluate and deploy new capabilities.
- Support proof-of-concepts, pilots and production implementations.
- Contribute to AI evaluations, testing and performance measurement activities.
- Help establish repeatable patterns and standards for AI delivery across the organization.
Adoption & Continuous Improvement
- Work directly with end users to improve solution effectiveness and usability.
- Monitor adoption, performance and business outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to optimize deployed solutions.
- Support process redesign and change adoption activities where required.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, solution engineering, implementation consulting or a related technical role.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience on AI-specific projects
- Experience developing AI-enabled applications and workflows.
- Experience supporting AI evaluation, testing and performance measurement.
- Experience with AI agent orchestration and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Experience with enterprise knowledge retrieval, semantic search and unstructured data
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data pipelines.
- Experience within financial services, pensions, insurance or other regulated industries.
- Experience with workflow automation and process orchestration platforms.
- Experience designing and delivering production-grade software solutions.
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to solve operational challenges.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
