Principal Architect Browse, Search, CMS & Catalog
Overview
Catalyst Brands is accelerating its digital transformation and seeks a Principal Architect to lead the strategy, architecture, and evolution of its digital commerce discovery platform across Browse, Search, CMS, and Product Catalog. This role required design, cloud-native modernization, event-driven integration, and technical leadership to build scalable, secure, resilient, and high-performance digital commerce capabilities. Reporting to the Distinguished Architect, this leader provides architectural direction across Catalyst Brands for Browse, Search, CMS, and Catalog platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Define and evolve the Browse, Search, CMS, and Product Catalog architecture aligned with business and customer experience goals.
Architect cloud native, API first, microservices based, and event driven platforms for scalability, resilience, and high availability.
Lead discovery and current-state assessment, target-state architecture, modernization, migration, and technical roadmap for Browse, Search, CMS, and Catalog capabilities.
Design scalable Search architecture including indexing, relevance, autocomplete, faceting, filtering, ranking, search APIs, and high-volume query processing.
Define Product Catalog architecture covering product, SKU, category, attribute, variant, ingestion, synchronization, data quality, and downstream propagation.
Architect CMS integration and content delivery patterns including headless APIs, content models, publishing, caching, CDN, and integration with Browse experiences.
Define Browse architecture including category navigation, facets, filters, sorting, pagination, merchandising, API/BFF aggregation, caching, and graceful degradation.
Lead event-driven integration using Kafka or equivalent streaming technologies for catalog, search-index, content, and platform data synchronization.
Mentor engineers while establishing architecture standards, reusable patterns, observability, security, performance, and technical excellence.
Success Metrics
Measurable improvements in Browse and Search latency, availability, scalability, and customer experience.
Improved catalog freshness, search indexing reliability, content delivery performance, and operational observability.
Standardized API, event, data, and architecture patterns drive consistency, efficiency, resilience, and faster delivery.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
15 or more years of experience in software, cloud, or platform architecture leadership roles.
Expertise in distributed, microservices based digital commerce systems on AWS, with strong Java and Spring Boot experience.
Strong proficiency in Browse, Search, CMS, Product Catalog, API/BFF architecture, Kafka or equivalent streaming, Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, and cloud-native platforms.
Proven experience designing and governing high performance, high traffic customer-facing digital commerce platforms.
Experience with Search technologies such as OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, Solr, or equivalent, including indexing, relevance, faceting, and performance optimization.
Familiarity with cloud networking, security, observability, caching/CDN, data synchronization, event-driven architecture, and cost optimization best practices.
