Senior Vertical Transportation (VT) Design & Coordination Manager
Experience
15+ years of relevant experience in Vertical Transportation (Elevator & Escalator) systems, including design coordination, project execution, and site management.
Job Summary
The Senior Vertical Transportation (VT) Design & Coordination Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of VT design coordination, technical review, project scheduling, site supervision, and regulatory liaison throughout the project lifecycle. The role ensures seamless integration of VT systems with structural, architectural, MEP, and fire & life safety requirements while maintaining compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Coordination
- Review and coordinate structural drawings related to Vertical Transportation systems, including:
- Lift pit dimensions
- Overhead clearances
- Slab openings/cut-outs
- Beam separation and modifications
- Door openings and shaft requirements
- Review and coordinate architectural drawings, including:
- Door levels and landing interfaces
- Door motor fixing details
- Car finishing requirements
- Elevator machine room layouts and details
- Coordinate VT requirements with other building systems, including:
- Intercom/Interphone systems
- Energy Management System (EMS)
- Fire alarm interface and configuration
- Power supply and earthing
- CCTV integration
- Smoke control systems
- Review consultant and shop drawings for VT systems.
- Perform technical reviews of elevator systems and validate traffic analysis studies to ensure optimal system performance.
2. Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and monitor the VT installation sequence and project schedule.
- Coordinate VT activities with civil, architectural, MEP, and other service schedules.
- Ensure timely execution while minimizing interface conflicts and project delays.
3. Site Management & Quality Control
- Supervise and monitor VT installation activities on site.
- Conduct or witness:
- Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
- Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
- Installation inspections
- Testing & Commissioning (T&C) inspections
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Identify technical issues and coordinate timely resolution with contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
4. Authority Liaison & Regulatory Coordination
- Coordinate with local authorities and regulatory agencies for approvals, permits, inspections, and statutory compliance related to VT systems.
- Support project teams during authority inspections and ensure all documentation is complete and compliant.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional certifications related to Vertical Transportation or Project Management are an advantage.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Extensive knowledge of elevator and escalator systems.
- Strong understanding of structural and architectural coordination requirements.
- Experience coordinating VT systems with MEP and fire & life safety systems.
- Ability to review technical drawings, specifications, and traffic analysis reports.
- Strong project planning and scheduling capabilities.
- Experience managing site installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Knowledge of authority approval processes and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working on large-scale commercial, High-Rise residential, mixed-use or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with international codes, standards, and best practices applicable to Vertical Transportation systems.
