About the Role:
A Director of Quantum Optimization Technology leads the research, development, and commercialization of quantum-classical hybrid algorithms to solve complex enterprise problems like supply chain logistics, financial portfolio modeling, and resource management. They bridge the gap between theoretical physics, software engineering, and core business needs.
The Director will spearhead the transition of quantum optimization from theoretical research into deployed, high-value enterprise products. Operating at the intersection of High-Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence, and Quantum Information Science, this role requires a strategic leader who can translate classically intractable business problems into quantum-compatible algorithms executed on real hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the long-term vision and product roadmap for quantum optimization technologies.
- Algorithm Development: Lead the design, simulation, and implementation of hybrid workflows combining quantum subroutines with advanced classical methods (e.g., heuristics, mathematical programming).
- Hardware & Software Integration: Own the full software stack that translates high-level quantum programs into optimized instructions for quantum processors (QPUs).
- Benchmarking & Validation: Design experiments to validate, benchmark, and debug quantum optimization models against existing classical baselines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with experimental physics, control hardware, product, and business development teams to ensure technical alignment.
- Ecosystem Building: Act as the technical face of the organization, interfacing with academic collaborators, industry partners, and government programs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Physics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience: 12+ years of professional experience in deep tech, HPC environments, or advanced computing systems, with a proven track record of leadership.
- Quantum Expertise: Deep understanding of quantum information theory, quantum algorithms (e.g., QAOA, VQE), and circuit compilation and optimization.
- Classical Optimization: Strong background in mathematical optimization (Linear Programming, Mixed Integer Programming) and classical scientific computing stacks.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Python and standard scientific/quantum ecosystems (e.g., Qiskit, PennyLane, Cirq, Pyomo, or Gurobi).
