About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Software Development Engineer (SDE 2/3) combined with an Instructor role specializing in Full Stack Development to join our Computer Science Department. This position is tailored for professionals with over four years of industry experience who possess a deep enthusiasm for software engineering and a desire to mentor aspiring developers. The role involves a dual focus: applying your technical expertise to develop and refine course content, as well as delivering engaging instructional sessions. You will conduct coding labs, guide students through complex projects, and provide mentorship to help them build practical, real-world applications. This unique blend of industry experience and academic involvement offers an exciting opportunity to influence the next generation of software engineers while continuing to grow your own expertise.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of professional experience as a Software Developer or Engineer, with a proven track record in application programming. You should possess strong proficiency in at least one programming language such as JavaScript, Java, Python, or C/C++. A solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), data structures, algorithms, and software design principles is essential. Familiarity with application frameworks, APIs, and deployment processes is also required. Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an engaging and understandable manner suitable for students. Flexibility to teach foundational computer science topics when necessary is desirable. Prior experience in teaching, mentoring, or training—whether formal or informal—is considered a plus, along with knowledge of high-level design, version control systems like Git, testing frameworks, and application lifecycle management.
Responsibilities
- Course Development & Delivery: Design, develop, and deliver modules on Full Stack Development, covering topics such as Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures, Algorithms, and Software Engineering principles. Ensure content remains current with industry standards and practices.
- Hands-on Labs: Conduct practical coding labs using languages like JavaScript, SQL, Node.js, and Python to help students acquire real-world skills. Provide hands-on guidance during lab sessions to facilitate active learning.
- Student Mentorship: Offer one-on-one support to students on projects, debugging, coding best practices, and application design. Foster a supportive environment that encourages growth and confidence.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior faculty, industry partners, and curriculum teams to align course content with industry requirements and emerging trends. Contribute to continuous curriculum improvement.
- Student Success: Evaluate student assignments, provide constructive feedback, and assist students in preparing for industry roles through mock interviews and skill assessments. Help students develop a professional mindset and technical competence.
- Innovation: Inspire students to leverage modern frameworks and tools to solve complex, real-world problems. Promote a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the classroom.
