Job details:
Software Implementation (SWI) Engineer
Location: India
Team: Software Implementation (SWI)
Travel: Willingness and ability to travel internationally, including to the United States
Experience: 3–8 years preferred About the SWI Team The
Software Implementation (SWI) team is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation, integration, testing, and deployment of GreyOrange software and automation solutions at customer sites. SWI engineers work at the intersection of
software, testing, automation, and customer implementation. The role involves working closely with GreyOrange products, simulations and emulations, customer systems, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure solutions are thoroughly validated and successfully transitioned into production. This is a highly technical, hands-on role for engineers who enjoy
troubleshooting complex software issues, testing APIs and integrations, writing automation scripts, and working directly with customers. Key Responsibilities Software Testing & Validation
- Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing of GreyOrange products and solutions.
- Execute simulation and emulation testing to validate system behavior before and during customer implementations.
- Develop and execute detailed test scenarios, test cases, and validation plans.
- Identify, reproduce, troubleshoot, and document software defects and integration issues.
- Perform log analysis and root-cause investigation of complex technical issues.
- Validate system performance, reliability, and interoperability across multiple software and hardware components.
Customer Implementation & Deployment
- Work directly with customers throughout the implementation lifecycle, including:
- SIT (System Integration Testing)
- UAT (User Acceptance Testing)
- HAT (Hardware Acceptance Testing)
- Go-Live
- Post-Go-Live Support
- Collaborate with customer IT, engineering, and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve implementation issues.
- Support software configuration, integration validation, deployment readiness, and production cutover activities.
- Participate in on-site customer deployments and provide hands-on technical support during critical implementation phases.
- Communicate technical issues, risks, status, and resolutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Troubleshooting & Automation
- Use Python, Unix/Linux, SQL, JSON, REST APIs, and Postman extensively for testing, troubleshooting, and automation.
- Write and maintain shell scripts to automate testing, diagnostics, deployments, and repetitive operational tasks.
- Analyze application and system logs to identify problems and isolate root causes.
- Debug API, database, integration, configuration, and environment-related issues.
- Develop utilities and scripts that improve testing efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Validate data flows between GreyOrange products and customer systems.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong software testing and debugging fundamentals.
- Python – scripting, automation, debugging, and test utilities.
- Unix/Linux – strong command-line skills, troubleshooting, process management, logs, permissions, networking basics, etc.
- Shell scripting – ability to write, understand, and debug Bash/shell scripts.
- SQL – ability to query databases, validate data, troubleshoot data issues, and perform complex queries.
- JSON – strong understanding of JSON structures and data manipulation.
- REST APIs – strong understanding of API-based integrations and troubleshooting.
- Postman – ability to create, execute, and troubleshoot API collections and test scenarios.
- Strong understanding of software integration and distributed-system concepts.
- Experience with log analysis and systematic root-cause analysis.
- Familiarity with source control systems such as Git.
- Ability to quickly understand new products, architectures, APIs, and technical environments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with warehouse automation, robotics, logistics, fulfillment, or enterprise software implementations.
- Experience testing complex distributed systems or highly integrated software platforms.
- Experience with CI/CD and automated testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with messaging systems, databases, networking, and cloud environments.
- Experience working with customer-facing implementation or professional services teams.
- Experience supporting production systems and critical go-live events.
- Knowledge of test automation frameworks such as PyTest or similar tools.
- Exposure to Docker/Kubernetes or other modern deployment technologies is a plus.
What We're Looking For We are looking for
strong hands-on engineers—not just manual testers. The ideal candidate:
- Is technically curious and enjoys solving difficult problems.
- Can independently investigate an issue from a customer symptom down to the underlying technical root cause.
- Is comfortable working from the Linux command line and writing scripts to diagnose problems.
- Can use Python, SQL, APIs, Postman, and shell scripting as everyday engineering tools.
- Has strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Can work effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving implementation environments.
- Is comfortable interacting directly with customers and explaining technical issues clearly.
- Takes ownership of problems through resolution rather than simply reporting defects.
- Can work collaboratively with Software Engineering, QA, Product, Solutions, and Customer teams.
- Is willing to travel internationally, including extended on-site assignments in the United States, based on project requirements.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- 3–8 years of relevant experience in software testing, QA automation, system integration, implementation, production support, or a related engineering role.
- Candidates with exceptional technical skills and relevant hands-on experience are encouraged to apply regardless of exact years of experience.
