We are hiring a Research Engineer/Project Scientist to work on wireless mesh and MAC layer protocol design for a UAV networking project at IIT Kanpur. The role will focus on the protocol and simulation layer of a low-latency, self-healing multi-hop communication stack for UAV swarms. The work includes network simulation and MAC/routing algorithm development.
What we are looking for:
- Strong C++ programming skills on Linux
- Good fundamentals of computer networks and particularly MAC layer
- Experience with network simulation or emulation tools such as ns-3 or equivalent.
- Comfort with Linux networking/debugging tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, iperf, ping, traceroute, Git, and scripting
This is not a pure theoretical role. We are looking for someone who enjoys building, debugging, measuring, and improving real protocol implementations. Candidates with a strong M.Tech/PhD background in wireless networks, networked systems, communication systems, embedded systems, or related areas are encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates should demonstrate experience on working on at least 1 serious implementation-heavy project in this area. Work can be online/hybrid/in-person and starting salary is 80k per month but is negotiable for the ideal candidate.
