This position supports the CDC-INFO program, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s national contact center that provides health information to the public, healthcare providers, and public health professionals across more than 750 health-related and COVID topics.

About The Role

We are hiring a Customer Service Representative II to join the CDC-INFO team. You will assist the public by phone, email, chat, or SMS, answering questions and helping schedule vaccine appointments or send kits. The role requires providing timely, accurate, and professional service while following CDC and Maximus protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to inquiries via phone, email, chat, and SMS
  • Assist with vaccine appointment scheduling and distribution of health kits
  • Look up information using internal databases and written resources
  • Maintain knowledge of CDC procedures and health topics
  • Document all interactions using CRM systems
  • Escalate complex issues to designated teams
  • Attend training sessions and maintain current knowledge of updates
  • Ensure quality service aligned with CDC and Maximus standards

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least six (6) months of customer service or call center experience
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PC systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including holidays and weekends
  • Must meet remote work requirements (see below)

Preferred

  • Experience with phone systems and headsets
  • Previous work in healthcare or government programs

Remote Work Requirements

  • Internet speed of at least 25 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload
  • Hardwired internet connection (ethernet)
  • Preferred device: Windows or Mac (no Chromebooks or tablets)
  • Private workspace with reliable power source

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $17.75 – $22.17 per hour (based on location per Department of Labor guidelines)
