About the Role

K2 Insurance Services, LLC is seeking a full-time Business Analyst to bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution. The Business Analyst will collaborate closely with insurance business leaders and data engineers to translate complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications. This role will focus on insurance data that will be mapped and processed using SQL and Python on the Databricks platform by our Data Engineering team.

This position offers the opportunity to be part of an established yet growing company. Our compensation package includes competitive pay, a bonus plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with employer match.

Location: US (Remote)

Salary Range: $115,000 - $135,000 Annually

Key Responsibilities

Business Requirement Gathering:

• Collaborate with insurance business leaders to understand specific needs and objectives.
• Conduct in-depth interviews, workshops, and surveys to gather detailed business requirements.
• Analyze and document business processes, data flows, and data quality expectations.

Requirement Analysis:

• Break down complex business requirements into manageable and measurable components.
• Identify data dependencies, sources, and transformations.
• Prioritize requirements based on business value and technical feasibility.

Technical Specification Development:

• Translate business requirements into clear and concise technical specifications.
• Work closely with data engineers to ensure specifications align with technical capabilities.
• Develop data models, data dictionaries, and other technical documentation.

Data Mapping and Transformation:

• Define data mapping rules and transformation logic in collaboration with data engineers.
• Assist in the development of SQL queries and scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
• Validate data quality and accuracy, conducting user acceptance testing.

Data Governance and Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to data governance standards and industry regulations.
• Help implement data quality controls and security measures.
• Maintain data lineage and documentation.

Stakeholder Management:

• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing regular project updates.
• Manage expectations, resolve conflicts, and build strong relationships with business leaders and data engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in the insurance industry.
• Strong understanding of insurance business processes and data.
• Experience working with data-engineering tools like Databricks.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Knowledge of SQL and data modeling techniques.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management tools.
