Memory Care Manager

Position Overview:
Manages the day-to-day direction and operations of the memory care homes in accordance with resident needs, state and federal regulations and Winona Health policies and procedures. Duties include supporting and observing staff, working closely with residents and their families, planning and conducting staff training and coordinating education opportunities. This role supports the Administrator and Housing Manager in assisted living operations, scheduling, resident care, identifying staffing needs and budget development. This person supports the RN in the resident assessment process, service planning process and assures that resident needs are being met and necessary supplies and equipment are available for the RN and floor staff to function efficiently and effectively.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable in staffing guidelines and best practices for assisted living and memory care settings.
- Participates in the provision of direct care as needed.
- Assures compliance with local, state and federal regulations and provides feedback to leadership in developing and refining policies and standard work.
- Provides direct mentorship for delivery of services according to individual resident goals and needs.
- Assists with the Human Resource aspect of the department including hiring, coaching, monitoring of attendance, record-keeping, competencies and workplace safety.
- Coordinates with the RN for admission’s and discharge’s, including room turnover processes.
- Assists the RN in managing daily operations.
- Aligns staffing needs to achieve desired quality care outcomes, resident and family satisfaction and organizational goals.
- Coordinates and oversees deployment of daily activity programming to promote optimal resident engagement.
- Champion and lead process improvements across the organization.
- Demonstrate LEAN leadership through coaching, root cause analysis and removal of barriers to improve performance.
- The memory care manager is accountable for leader's standard work and daily/weekly audits of department standard work, encourages staff level leadership in the department.
- Attends mandatory staff meetings and completes mandatory educational requirements of Winona Health staff.
- Understands, supports, and integrates into one’s position the organization’s vision/mission/values (see last section.)
- Leads focus boards and completes tracking and identify’ s trends of facility data, using this for improvement.
- Provides direct mentoring of new orientees and seasoned staff to ensure standard work and facility policies are adhered to.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
- Basic computer skills. Word. Excel. Access or other databases. PowerPoint. Publisher. Outlook.
- Exemplifies Winona Health's Behavior Standards.
- Basic knowledge of Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia.
- High school/GED/equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- CPR Certification.
- Certified Nursing Assistant/Trained Medication Assistant certification
- Requires a reliable vehicle for occasional shopping to meet resident needs.
- Prefer Human Services degree and/or an associate degree or experience within a related field.
- Previous experience in a related leadership role.
- Experience working with the elderly with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias
