Role Overview
As a L2 Windows System Engineer, you will join the Production/Infrastructure tribe and work closely with L2/L3 production teams to maintain and improve our Windows‑based environment. You will be responsible for the end‑to‑end lifecycle of physical and virtual servers, ensuring high availability, security and performance for critical business applications.
Key Responsibilities
Core duties
- Manage and maintain physical Dell/HP servers (installation, configuration, monitoring).
- Coordinate hardware incident resolution with OEM partners (IBM, Dell, HP).
- Perform regular maintenance, optimisation and corrective actions on Windows servers (both physical and virtual).
- Propose and implement technical improvements to remove obstacles and enhance service quality.
Additional responsibilities
- Drive vulnerability and patch management, including reporting and compliance.
- Deploy new Windows servers (hardware and Hyper‑V/SCVMM virtual machines).
- Monitor production and test environments; resolve incidents and provide work‑arounds.
- Collaborate with development teams to align with best‑practice standards.
- Contribute to technical documentation, run‑books and procedural guides.
- Participate in a 24 × 7 on‑call rotation (7 days on, 7 days off).
Required Technical Competencies
- Server hardware (Dell/HP) – deep knowledge of installation, configuration and lifecycle management.
- Windows Server OS – strong administration experience (stand‑alone and domain environments).
- Hyper‑V / SCVMM – proven ability to design, deploy and manage virtual machines at scale.
- SCCM – mastery of System Center Configuration Manager for OS deployment, packaging and compliance.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in Windows system administration, server hardware management and virtualization.
