Windows Hyper-V & Azure Stack HCI

Role Summary

The engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platforms and Azure Stack HCI clusters, including infrastructure planning, installation, configuration, migration, monitoring, and ongoing operational support. The role also involves hybrid integration with Azure services, performance optimization, and troubleshooting of virtualization and storage components.

Key Responsibilities

·        Azure Stack HCI Deployment & Administration: Design, deploy, and manage Azure Stack HCI clusters; configure Storage Spaces Direct; implement RDMA and SET networking; register clusters with Azure and enable Azure Arc.

·        Windows Server & Hyper-V Virtualization: Install, configure, and manage Hyper-V hosts and failover clusters; configure virtual networking, Live Migration, and high-availability workloads.

·        Infrastructure Design & Implementation: Assess requirements, design HCI architectures, and work with OEM hardware; implement DR using Azure Site Recovery and backup solutions.

·        Azure Hybrid Integration: Enable cloud services like Azure Monitor, Backup, Update Manager, and Arc; implement governance and security.

·        Maintenance, Monitoring & Support: Troubleshoot cluster, storage, network, and VM issues; perform performance tuning and manage updates using Cluster-Aware Updating.

Required Skills & Experience

·        Strong expertise in Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025.

·        Hands-on experience with Hyper-V, Failover Clustering, Storage Spaces Direct, Windows Admin Center, and Azure Stack HCI OS.

·        Networking knowledge: VLANs, RDMA, SMB Direct, SET teaming.

·        Experience with Azure services: Resource Manager, Backup, Monitoring, Arc.

·        Familiarity with PowerShell scripting.

Preferred Skills

·        Experience with enterprise storage platforms.

·        Knowledge of AKS on Azure Stack HCI.

·        Experience with backup and DR tools such as ASR or Veeam.

·        Understanding of security and compliance frameworks.

Soft Skills

·        Strong communication and documentation skills.

·        Ability to work both independently and in teams.

·        Analytical thinking and effective problem-solving.

·        Ability to manage multiple parallel projects.

Education & Certifications

·        Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering / IT.

·        Preferred Certifications: AZ-800/801, AZ-700, AZ-104, Azure Stack HCI Administrator Associate.
