Position Summary:
Under general supervision, performs highly responsible work in maintenance of various mechanical & electrical systems including but not limited to heating, cooling, electric, power distribution and HVAC controls at various locations throughout the Zoological Park buildings, equipment and facilities.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Perform general maintenance, repair, upgrades, renovation and alteration of buildings, offices, exhibits, enclosures, equipment, structures and other facilities and specialized work with regard to electric, power distribution, mechanical systems, control systems, motors, and general electrician work utilizing all skills necessary to complete such assignments
  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade and repair electrical systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
  • Ensure proper documentation of work performed, including maintenance logs and inventory tracking
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, electrical codes and safety regulations, prioritizing the well-being of self and others
  • May perform ground maintenance work as required
  • Will be required to respond to snow and storm related emergencies to assist with removal and clean-up operations during normal and off-normal business hours
  • Perform related tasks and duties as required

Qualification Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Three (3) years in electrical work or an electrical allied technical field training in commercial buildings
  • Valid Driver License
Physical Requirements:
  • The position requires indoor work and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Tasks require manual dexterity and the ability to safely use tools and equipment, including but not limited to ladders, hand tools (screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, ratchets, pipe bending equipment,) etc., power tools (battery-powered and electric) and electrical testing equipment.
  • Some tasks require climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching, stretching, and navigating uneven terrain frequently
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis with or without assistance
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, evenings as the schedule demands
  • Ability to respond to emergencies as required
  • Must be able to work Overtime as required
