The Director of Nursing provides leadership, direction, oversight and supervision for the overall clinical operations of the Health Center in accordance with current Federal, State and Local regulations that govern the facility and Standards of Nursing Practice to ensure the highest degree of quality care is provided and maintained at all times.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Health Services Administrator, provides leadership and coordination of the Health Center areas / units.
Direct, develop, organize, implement, evaluate the interdisciplinary processes in the Health Center as well as its programs and activities and ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, accreditation and reimbursement guidelines and standards.
Understand current Nursing Processes and Standards of Nursing Practice; effectively communicate to staff the expectation of absolute conformity to the process and standards as defined and apply appropriate accountability measures through coaching, mentoring and application of the progressive discipline process.
In conjunction with the Health Services Administrator, develop the annual Capital and Operating Budgets for the Health Center. Analyze monthly statistical and budget variance reports.
Serve on the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee for Health Center and fulfill committee responsibilities as outlined in regulations and the Quality Assurance Program for the organization.
Qualifications
Strong clinical and assessment skills and knowledge of diseases processes
Knowledge of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long term care administration
Ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
Ability to interpret, communicate and implement policies, procedures, regulations, financial records, reports, etc. to staff, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies/personnel.
Ability to make decisions and choices independently
Ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve the desired results
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in nursing; master’s degree preferred
Licensed as a RN in the State of Virginia, in good standing
Minimum five years of experience as a Registered Nurse with supervisory/management experience
CPR/First Aid Certified
Long term care experience required; acute care preferred
