POSITION 26P62 TITLE: Literacy Facilitator/Trainer (grant position)
LOCATION: Hilltop Elementary
EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2026-2027 school year with anticipated start date in summer, 2026. (Normal contract: 200 flexible days). Mandatory summer training will occur in 2026.
BID PERIOD: April 23-29, 2026, 4 pm. If necessary, interviews will be arranged after bid period closes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.??? Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate endorsed in Elementary Education or Multi-Subjects K-8
2.??? Masters in Education, MA in Reading (preferred)
3.??? Experience in organizing and implementing professional development activities
4.??? Experience modeling best practice teaching techniques in classrooms with at-risk students
5.??? Experience in assessing & interpreting results of a variety of formal and informal assessment tools to guide instruction i.e., Acadience, CTOPP, QPS, etc.
6.??? Trained in Fundations, LETRS, and the Science of Reading
7. Minimum of 5 successful years of K-5 teaching experience required.
8. Ability to attend mandatory training July 20-22, 2026 in Charleston, WV.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Model Research-based strategies through demonstration teaching in elementary and middle level classrooms (i.e., Wilson, Fundations, Lindamood Bell, LETRS, Science of Reading etc...).
2.? Facilitate job-embedded coaching and professional staff development in research-based reading and writing curriculum and instruction.
3.? Assist principals and teachers to monitor student achievement through ongoing data analysis. Work with the intervention team to plan high quality intervention based on data.
4.? Work with school assistance teams to analyze and interpret student achievement data and ensure that the interventions that are implemented are done with fidelity.
5. Model research based literary (listening, speaking, reading, writing) instructional strategies for classroom teachers, special education teachers, and parents.
6. Provide parent trainings on the science of reading and strategies to implement at home with their child.
7. Maintain records and appropriate data as requested by administration.
8. Serve as resource person on interdepartmental level and assist with instructional strategies for embedding literacy instruction through many subjects.
9. Attend all trainings provided by the WVDE for the Literacy Coach.
10. Complete classroom walkthroughs and consult with the principal and teacher about the strengths and areas of improvement observed during the observation.
11. Provide targeted professional development (grade-band or school-wide).
12. Knowledge of K-5 West Virginia College and Career Readiness Standards for ELA.
13. Participation in WVDE mentoring and professional development.
14. Facilitate or participate in Professional Learning Communities.
15. Support collaborative planning with teachers.
16. Collaborate with principal to strengthen Tier 1 instruction.
17. Work with school leadership to support continuous school improvement efforts.
18. Support grant reporting and accountability measures related to WVImpact+.
19. Maintain documentation of coaching cycles and professional learning activities.
20. Collaborate with other WVImpact+ Coaches to facilitate professional learning for teachers and staff.

SALARY: Salary based on experience and education level per MCS BOE salary schedule located at https://boe.mars.k12.wv.us/o/mcs/page/salary-schedules plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
