Senior Conductor

Our senior conductors play a key role in the safe and smooth running of our service, assisting passengers with any enquiries or problems, checking and issuing tickets, and ensuring the safety of the crew and customers. Candidates are entered into our training programme, which offers full training for the role of a senior conductor. With the experience of cash handling in a customer service or retail environment, senior conductors must embody the West Midlands Railway spirit, and be friendly and approachable, with first-class communication skills and the ability to remain calm in all situations. Our senior conductor managers provide leadership, motivation, assistance and support to senior conductors. They ensure operational safety whilst contributing to improving train performance and aim to achieve revenue and customer satisfaction targets in support of the overall service delivery plan. Our Revenue and Security Managers ensure customer satisfaction and security across the West Midlands Railway network. Working out and about at all hours, they gather and analyse information in order to investigate and prevent fraudulent travel and troublemakers. Through planning and enforcing a range of intelligence-led revenue protection, they minimise ticketless travel and other potential threats to the network's safety and security.
