Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be able to report pertinent observations, changes and responses regarding resident’s conditions to nurse supervisor/manager and physicians.
- Must be knowledgeable with HIPPA laws.
- Can perform direct resident care using the nursing process and technical skills according to Wesbury Nursing department policy and procedures and will address physical, mental, emotional and spiritual concerns.
- Can document on records all observed symptoms, responses and changes in residents condition.
- Can demonstrate knowledge, accuracy, skill, judgment and confidence when caring for the residents and or speaking with the resident’s families or physician.
- Can assist physician with resident rounds, procedures and exams if needed.
- Able to transcribe, implement and document physicians orders in all the proper places.
- Can institute emerging measures for CPR, fire and disaster plans, and elopement.
- Can administer medications and do treatments per doctor orders to the extent training allowed.
- Can demonstrate courteous and respectful interactions with residents, staff, physicians, families and visitors.
- Can provide direction to nurse’s aides and monitor to ensure job is being done properly and to full extent.
- Works well with co-workers being helpful and respectful.
- Can assist residents in meeting their care needs including physical, social, mental and emotional.
- Can assume responsible management of the Wellness Center and residents.
- Has good people skills. Answers the phone and deals with residents, visitors and families in a very respectful and profession way.
- Is aware and adheres to policies in the Wesbury handbook.
- Will attend in-service programs as directed.
- Can handle emergency situations in a prompt, professional and efficient manner.
- Can demonstrate good time management skills.
- Has a good and positive attitude/be flexible.
- Enjoys working with the elderly.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Respond to Villa emergencies.
- Check on no call in from the Villas and follow up.
- Assist with RASP at admission and quarterly.
- Training of new LPN/Med Techs
- Assisting with Survey Prep and completing audits as necessary
Non Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- May have to work a different shift/hours to fit the need.
- Have computer skills.
- Making/taking appointments per protocol.
- Some clerical work; each staff person will have their own specific job to be responsible for.
Working Conditions:
Work in a clean, well heated and ventilated building. repeated bending, squatting, stooping and extensive walking, exposure to resident bodily fluids, infection and odors.
Qualifications Necessary to Perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Completion of state approved Licensed Practical Nurse program/ or Med Tech course and must hold a current PA nursing license/Med Tech certification and have basic CPR certification. Previous experiences in personal care/assisted living helpful but not a must. Sense of responsibility, moral integrity and common sense along with patience and compassion are essential. Need to be cheerful, courteous, kind and pleasant when dealing with residents and their families. Also must be able to work well under pressure, provide proper guidance to your nurse’s aides when needed and demonstrate good time management skills. Needs to demonstrate confidence, be assertive and a good leader. Be able to keep resident information confidential. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position including being on feet long periods of time, lifting residents, pushing a med cart, bending, stooping, reaching and kneeling etc.
Supervision Given:
Assists with training of new nursing employees/Med Techs.
Assists with supervision of nurses aides and PCA's.
Supervision Received:
Under the guidance and direction of Nurse Manager following Wesbury's Policy and Procedure.
