Position Summary
The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Training Program at Wesbury provides paid, structured instruction and hands‑on clinical experience to prepare individuals for certification as a Nurse Aide in the State of Pennsylvania. CNA Trainees learn essential resident care skills, communication techniques, infection control practices, and safety procedures necessary to deliver high‑quality care within Wesbury’s continuum of services. Upon successful completion of the program and state certification exam, trainees are eligible for placement as Certified Nurse Aides at Wesbury.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in all classroom instruction, skills labs, and clinical training sessions.
- Learn and demonstrate competency in resident care tasks including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Assist with resident mobility, transfers, and safe ambulation using proper body mechanics.
- Observe and report changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to supervising staff.
- Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies at all times.
- Maintain professionalism, attendance, and conduct standards throughout the training program.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Must pass required background checks and pre‑employment screenings.
- Compassion for older adults and a strong desire to pursue a career in long‑term care.
Program Requirements
- Full participation in all program hours as scheduled.
- Successful completion of classroom, skills competency testing, and clinical rotations.
- Completion of the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Competency Examination.
Work Environment
Training occurs in classroom, skills lab, and resident care settings within Wesbury. Work may involve standing, lifting, and assisting residents with physical tasks.
