Role Description The Welder Cum Grinder role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The role involves performing welding operations on metal structures and components, including cutting, joining, and repairing parts according to drawings, specifications, and supervisor instructions. The individual will also operate grinding tools to finish welds, smooth surfaces, remove excess material, and prepare components for further fabrication or painting. Daily tasks include setting up equipment, inspecting tools and materials, following safety procedures, maintaining a clean work area, and coordinating with supervisors and team members to meet project deadlines. The role may require working in varying environmental conditions, handling heavy materials, and complying with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
- Solid experience in welding processes (e.g., ARC/MMAW, MIG, TIG) and basic knowledge of metal fabrication and cutting.
- Hands-on proficiency in grinding operations, including surface preparation, finishing welds, and safe use of handheld and bench grinders.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, measurements, and work instructions, with attention to detail and quality standards.
- Strong awareness of workplace safety practices, including use of PPE, safe handling of tools and materials, and adherence to marine/offshore safety guidelines.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, working in confined spaces, and standing for extended periods.
- Previous experience in ship repair, offshore, heavy engineering, or industrial fabrication environments is an advantage.
- Relevant technical training or certification in welding from a recognized institute; additional training in grinding or metal fabrication is beneficial.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team-based environment, with basic communication skills in English or local languages.
