SUMMARY: Provide identified gifted and talented students with appropriate learning experiences that develop potential and lead to advanced academic achievement. Provide services for gifted and talented students, at multiple schools, working in collaboration with administrators and teachers to provide supplemental support for increasing advanced student achievement for all students, specifically gifted and talented students through staff development, instructional planning, and classroom support for teachers through both a pull-out and push-in program.

SUMMARY: Provide identified gifted and talented students with appropriate learning experiences that
develop potential and lead to advanced academic achievement. Provide services for gifted and talented
students, at multiple schools, working in collaboration with administrators and teachers to provide
supplemental support for increasing advanced student achievement for all students, specifically gifted and
talented students through staff development, instructional planning, and classroom support for teachers
through both a pull-out and push-in program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be

● Logistics
o Develop your schedule to reflect student service needs within the framework of the master
schedule
o Help with above-level class placements and development of subject-accelerated students’
schedules
o Assist in acceleration transitions and monitor student outcomes
o Attend Weld RE4 GE Team Meetings, and designated GE trainings
o Adhere to ECEA Rule and district procedures (e.g. timelines, documentation, portability,
identification)
o Navigate Google Workspace and other technology platforms to complete work expectations
o Complete general building and district teacher responsibilities (e.g. duties, committees,
meetings)
o Assist in natural transitions across grades and buildings, including post-secondary planning
● Evaluation/Identification
o Screen K-12 gifted referral students, collecting cognitive, academic, aptitude, and
observational data
o CogAT: Train and support staff members in the administration of universal screener
o Administer STAR360 assessments as appropriate
o Send qualification letters to parents based on Identification Committee Determination
o Team with SPED, ELD, and reading specialists to seek out and serve students with dual
exceptionalities
o Maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA regulations for all evaluations and information
requests
o Screen advanced, talent pool, and identified students for subject acceleration

● Advocacy and Coach
o Serve as a resource person in gifted education for school personnel, as appropriate
o Encourage teachers to utilize learning strategies and options for gifted learners
o Serve as consult on building MTSS teams about gifted learners and asynchronous
development
o Provide impromptu and planned staff professional development about GE student needs
and strategies
o Consult with teachers/admin/support staff about GE students’ individual needs in and
outside the classroom
o Advocate for the strengths and needs of gifted learners to ensure “...programming options
and services for gifted children for at least the number of days calendared for the school
year…” (ECEA 2220-R-12.00)
o Collaborate with parents, counselors, and/or psychologists regarding mental health support
that is beyond the scope of typical gifted characteristics that can be addressed within the
classroom
o Serve as a liaison to help GE students, parents, and families navigate giftedness (e.g. socio-
emotional and other affective development, asynchrony, intensities, identity, strengths,
passion
● Documentation
o Accept and follow up on all referral information from community members, students, staff,
and families
o Provide access to referral, input forms, and observational (SIGS, GES) forms
o Determine whether a student referral will continue with formal identification assessment (<30
days)
o Complete and submit portability paperwork to the district GE TOSA for review (<30 days)
o Continue ALP services, as available in district, until a decision is reached
o Review incoming records when registrations indicate prior gifted identification
o Work with secretaries to secure records; contact prior schools, districts, and personnel as
necessary
o Communicate identification acceptance or next steps for portability to parents (<60 days)
o Send home formal documentation and upload it into student database (IC) (60 days)
o Reach out to parents for more information, evaluation permissions, and progress updates,
as needed
o Compile a thorough body of evidence profile narrative for every student referral and
evaluation
o Submit the body of evidence profile narrative to the district GE TOSA for identification team
review
o Participate in and follow up on Identification Team Reviews, as appropriate
o Send home notices (e.g. portability, eligibility notification, profile) following the identification
team review
o Upload portability notices, profile narratives, and ALP files into PLP area of student
database (IC)
o Verify accuracy of gifted identification status in student database prior to October Count and
as requested

o Collect and track permissions, as necessary, for testing,
electronic communications, and participation
o Develop and implement advanced learning plans (ALP) in cooperation with staff, students,
and guardians
o Review and update every ALP at the beginning of each school year (within the first 30
school days)
o Update ALP goal progress at the end of each grading term
o Enter end-of-year ALP goal outcomes
o Maintain a copy of the ALP in the student’s digital or cumulative records
● Instruction
o Utilize, develop and/or modify instructional materials to engage gifted students in rigorous
and complex learning activities
o Explore a variety of program options to meet student needs: differentiation, small groups,
advanced courses, acceleration, mentorships, passion projects, contests
o Provide students opportunities to interact with the community, state, and national resources
o Communicate with parents about student achievement and ways to support students at
home
o Direct instruction of gifted learners: small group, specialized classes, push-in for student
support, and/or co-teaching, as appropriate at your level
o Consult with classroom/core instruction teachers regarding teaching strategies,
accommodations (process, product, environment), and modifications (content, acceleration)
to adhere to the student’s Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) and/or ICAP
o Provide proactive affective development instruction pertinent specifically to gifted learners
o Assist in social/emotional/personal supports common to gifted students
o Plan instruction that aligns with academic and affective goals, programs, and learning
strengths
● Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
● Bachelor’s degree required
● Experience in an educational setting with elementary students preferred
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
● Valid Colorado teaching license in appropriate content area
● Criminal background check
● Valid Colorado Driver’s License
● Gifted education core or gifted education specialist preferred
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
● Demonstrated leadership qualities in working with teachers, principals, and central office staff to
support district goals, objectives, and policies.
