JOB OVERVIEW:

Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager, is responsible for care and maintenance of landscaping and basic maintenance needs throughout the various buildings and properties under Property Management. Ensures the grounds reflect the beauty and cleanliness of Weber County facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for landscape and installation of a specific area of the County to provide an aesthetically pleasing and safe environment.

Regular gardening and landscape maintenance such as planting flowers, shrubs and trees; fertilizing; mowing; edging; laying sod/chips/rocks; pruning; weeding; snow removal; watering.

Plans and designs landscape, flower beds, and vegetated areas around facilities as assigned.

Installs and repairs pipes, valves and related equipment to sprinkling system and other needs of irrigation management.

Repairs and makes minor adjustments to timers/clocks which control and regulate the intervals between each watering.

Perform snow removal in winter months utilizing shovels, blowers and plows.

Work expediently, efficiently, and independently with limited direction from Operations Manager.

Performs a variety of general custodial functions such as emptying trash, picking up litter, cleaning windows, sweeping and cleaning restrooms and other areas.

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled painting, carpentry plastering, masonry, plumbing, metal work, electrical, mechanical maintenance, and related work as needed.

Performs other duties in connections with the operation of the facility.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Education: High school graduation or equivalent.

Experience: Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, gardening, agriculture, landscape design or related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):

Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of various plants and fertilizers. Common gardening tools such as hand tools and mower usage. Sprinkling systems.

Abilities: Ability to operate tools and equipment normally associated with landscape maintenance and design. Maintain service records of equipment. Ability to repair sprinkling systems. Ability to perform work requiring light, medium, and occasionally heavy physical effort. Ability to follow direction and work well with others.

YOUR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess or be able to possess a valid Utah Driver's License and have a good driving record.

Must be adaptable to changing work hours as shift hours may be varied.

Working days may include weekends and holidays as needed.
