About the Department
This position performs specialized duties in the management of the department's information technology systems.
Position Duties
- Maintains the department's information technology (IT) infrastructure/network.
- Maintains a variety of servers.
- Completes daily, weekly and monthly data backups.
- Maintains door, intercom and camera electronic controls.
- Maintains desktop and laptop computers.
- Installs, updates, troubleshoots and repairs a variety of software programs.
- Maintains video cameras and recording equipment.
- Maintains Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones.
- Installs, updates, troubleshoots and maintains computer and telephone hardware.
- Maintains printers and other peripherals.
- Maintains internet filtering software according to school district standards.
- Assists in the maintenance of surveillance hardware and software.
- Trains personnel in the use of computer hardware and software.
- Maintains department inventory; coordinates the disposal of salvage equipment.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

- Skill in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and correcting system issues.
- Skill in installing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of computer hardware and software systems.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Must have 3 years of related experience.

- The work consists of varied specialized duties. Frequent changes to information technology standards and practices contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to manage the department’s IT systems. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations.
Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentOccasionally
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles.
- Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business.
- Working in small and/or enclosed spaces.
- Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.

- Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Other Requirements/Information- Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license.
- Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and criminal background checks are required.
