Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Full-Time Librarian at Wauseon Elementary School. The ideal candidate will foster a love for reading and learning among students, manage the library resources effectively, and support the educational goals of the school. This role is essential in creating a welcoming and engaging environment that encourages students to explore literature and develop their research skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library, including the cataloging and organization of library materials.
- Develop and implement programs and activities that promote literacy and a love for reading among students.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum and support classroom instruction.
- Assist students in locating and selecting appropriate materials for their reading and research needs.
- Provide instruction on information literacy, research skills, and the effective use of library resources.
- Maintain an up-to-date collection of books, periodicals, and digital resources that reflect the interests and needs of the student body.
- Organize and oversee special events, such as book fairs, author visits, and reading challenges.
- Communicate with parents and the school community to promote library services and resources.
- Manage library budgets and resources, including ordering new materials and managing inventory.
- Stay current with trends in library science and education to continually improve library services.
Requirements
- Valid Educational Aide Permit or ability to obtain one.
- Previous experience working in a school library or educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of children's literature and current educational resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
- Proficient in the use of library management software and technology.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and the school community.
