This position is for a 12 week Waubonsee Works Paid Work Experience. Waubonsee Works Paid Work Experiences (PWEs) are funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, in conjunction with the Kane County Regional Office of Reinvestment. All applicants must be certified Waubonsee Works participants to be considered for these positions.

Waubonsee Works PWEs are offered both on and off-campus and are meant to provide Waubonsee Works participants relevant industry work experiences that will increase their employability, improve their soft skills, and allow them to explore the career path they are most interested in.

Current PWEs include internal job placements at Waubonsee Community College in the following Departments:

Information Technology
Bookstore
Adult Education
Welding Lab

Waubonsee Works students must apply to this post to be considered for a PWE. Paid Work Experiences last 12 weeks, with a maximum of 20 hours per week, and pay between $13 and $16 per hour. Participating companies and departments will work around student’s schedules; however, participants are expected to arrive on time and appropriately attired for each scheduled shift of their PWE.  Grant assistance is available to help cover the costs of attire and transportation.
Participants will be required to assist in Waubonsee Works events and workshops as directed by their Advisors and are expected to maintain passing grades in their classes during the experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current participant of the Waubonsee Works Program. The application for the program can be found at https://www.waubonsee.edu/community-offerings/adult-education/waubonsee-works. That application must be accepted prior to continuing this application for a PWE. 

Ability to follow directions and pay close attention to details

Good oral and written communication skills

Basic computer skills required
