General Manager – Proposals (Water & Wastewater Treatment)

Location:

Ahmedabad / Mumbai

Role Overview:

The Proposal GM will lead the end-to-end proposal and tendering function for water and wastewater treatment projects across industrial, municipal, and international markets. The role involves strategic bid management, technical-commercial optimization, and leading a multidisciplinary proposal team to secure high-value projects.

Key Responsibilities:1. Proposal Management

• Lead preparation of techno-commercial proposals for EPC, BOQ, and turnkey projects
• Review RFQs, tenders, and client specifications to define bid strategy
• Ensure timely submission of high-quality, compliant proposals

2. Technical Coordination

• Work closely with process, design, and engineering teams for solution finalization
• Optimize process schemes (RO, UF, ETP, STP, ZLD, etc.) for cost and performance
• Validate technical assumptions, sizing, and design basis

3. Commercial & Costing

• Develop competitive cost estimates and pricing strategies
• Coordinate with procurement/vendor teams for budgetary quotations
• Analyze risks and margins to ensure profitable bidding

4. Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor proposal engineers and coordinators
• Establish SOPs, templates, and proposal standardization practices
• Drive efficiency and turnaround time improvements

5. Client & Stakeholder Interaction

• Engage with clients for pre-bid meetings, clarifications, and negotiations
• Collaborate with sales/business development teams for opportunity conversion
• Support contract finalization and handover to execution team

6. Market & Strategy

• Track industry trends, competitor strategies, and pricing benchmarks
• Identify opportunities in industrial, municipal, desalination, and reuse sectors
• Support expansion into international markets

Key Systems & Technologies Exposure:

• RO, UF, NF, EDI, DM Plants
• ETP, STP, ZLD, MBR, MBBR, SBR
• Desalination systems
• Sludge handling & water reuse systems

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Chemical / Environmental Engineering
• MBA (optional but preferred)

Experience:

• 10–20+ years in water/wastewater industry
• Minimum 8–10 years in proposal/tendering role
• Experience handling large EPC/turnkey projects (industrial & municipal)

Key Skills:

• Strong techno-commercial acumen
• Expertise in tendering, costing, and bid management
• Leadership & team management
• Client handling and negotiation skills
• Knowledge of international bidding standards is a plus
