Position Overview
The Marketing Specialist plays a key support role across marketing operations, communications, sponsorship coordination, and event execution. This role requires someone who is an excellent communicator, highly organized, proactive, and able to anticipate the needs of a fast-moving events business.
The Marketing Specialist will support both day-to-day marketing execution and longer-term strategy, helping ensure our events, digital presence, and partner activations are consistent, polished, and aligned with Water Lantern Festival’s brand and business goals.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys owning projects end-to-end, collaborating cross-functionally, and balancing creative, operational, and analytical responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Website & Digital Updates
- Update the Water Lantern Festival website with applicable event changes, including dates, times, locations, parking updates, and key messaging.
- Ensure event pages remain accurate, clear, and conversion-focused.
Marketing Strategy & Performance
- Support strategic initiatives focused on AOV (Average Order Value) and conversion rate optimization.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve customer journey, upsells, and on-site or pre-event purchasing behavior.
- Help monitor performance metrics and provide insights or recommendations as needed.
Marketing Operations & Coordination
- Monitor and organize incoming communications (including shared inboxes) and route items to the appropriate internal owners.
- Work closely with event coordinators and assistant producers ahead of each event to ensure on site marketing operations align with upsells and on site rev opportunities.
- Support social media reporting, pacing dashboards, and internal marketing documentation as directed.
Event & Operational Support
- Assist with coordination of on-site branding, printed materials, signage, and promotional assets as needed.
- Support packaging, assembling, and shipping of marketing materials for event weekends and social media giveaways.
- Ensure consistency and quality across all customer-facing touchpoints.
Requirements
- Strong Communication Skills: Clear, professional written and verbal communication; comfortable interacting with media partners, sponsors, and internal stakeholders
- Highly Organized: Able to manage multiple timelines, projects, and priorities simultaneously.
- Proactive & Anticipatory: Able to identify needs before they arise and take initiative without constant direction.
- Detail-Oriented: Comfortable working in systems, tracking deliverables, and ensuring accuracy across platforms.
- Collaborative: Enjoys working cross-functionally with marketing, operations, design, and sponsorship teams.
- Flexible: Must be comfortable working across shifting timelines tied to live event schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in event marketing, partnerships, or experiential marketing
- Familiarity with website CMS platforms and basic analytics
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, seasonal business environment
- Canva and Photoshop/Illustrator experience is a plus, but not required
