The Wasserstrom Company is the leading Food Service Distributor in the nation. Established in 1902, we are a family owned company with our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. We currently have Material Handler IV positions available in our Distribution Center in Allentown, PA. This position directs & audits work activities of warehouse workers to ensure efficiency, safety, on-time, and quality assurance standards.
Duties include, but are not limited to
- Oversee and support management of workflow, LTL or pack line;
- Utilize Warehouse Management System to create and sort batches of orders, communicate order fulfillment issues to sales team, resolve system batching issues, organize workload for the DC floor;
- Assign Tasks;
- Monitor E-mail box;
- Follow through on requests from upper management, sales, etc.;
- Uses WMS and SAP to identify discrepancies;
- Miscellaneous Inventory Rectification/Identification;
- Conduct Quality and Safety Audits;
- Train associates on proper procedures, practices, and equipment;
- Operate Turret or fork lift to load and/or unload product shipments from trucks to shipping/receiving platform;
- Pick/put away/count product from/to racking, either case or pallet quantities;
- Utilize RF and/or pick label to verify item/quantity/location to pick and/or receive·
- Pass all safety checks and fork lift certifications on all equipment and complete daily operator checklists;
- Measure, weigh and count products and materials;
- Mark and label containers, container tags, or products, using marking tools;
- Properly operate multiple pieces of equipment including stock chasers, order pickers, stand up and sit down fork lifts, turret trucks;
- Use AS400 computer to print labels, BOL’s and pack slips;
- Validate quantity, quality, and model number of product;
- Pack outbound cartons/shipments in a way that will minimize risk of damage to product and cost of freight;
- Apply all required labeling to products, cartons, and pallets;
- Utilizing shipment software;
- Sort and Segregate product and materials;
- Assemble, pack, and seal cartons;
- Loading/Unload trailers;
- Consolidate and transport picked product using carts and hand jacks
- Maintain an incident and accident free driving history
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, maintenance and procedure manuals.
