Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Washing Operator / Garments Program Incharge at Shivram Implex LLP, working for SPYKAR HOMETEX, located in Bhubaneswar. The role involves planning, setting up, and operating garment washing machines according to approved wash recipes and buyer requirements. The Washing Operator / Program Incharge will monitor wash cycles, water levels, temperature, and chemical dosing, and make adjustments to achieve consistent shade, hand feel, and quality. This position is responsible for maintaining wash programs, recording production data, and coordinating with the production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth workflow. Daily tasks include checking fabric and garment quality before and after washing, ensuring proper chemical handling and storage, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the washing area. The role also includes troubleshooting process issues, supporting sampling and development washes, and training operators and helpers on standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of garment washing processes (e.g., enzyme, stone, softener, bleach washes) and experience operating industrial washing machines and dryers.
- Ability to create, maintain, and adjust wash programs/recipes, including setting time, temperature, RPM, and chemical dosing as per specifications.
- Understanding of textile fibers, fabric behavior, colorfastness, and shrinkage control, with attention to quality standards and buyer requirements.
- Basic knowledge of chemical safety, proper handling and storage of washing chemicals, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
- Experience documenting production, maintaining process records, and coordinating with production, quality, and maintenance teams.
- Minimum of a high school diploma; a technical diploma or certification in textiles/garment technology is preferred.
- Previous experience in a garment washing unit or laundry in a textile/garment factory is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work on-site in Bhubaneswar, manage shift-based work if required, and supervise a small team of operators and helpers.
- Good communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to follow and implement standard operating procedures consistently.
