Job Description:The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day distribution center operations with a strong focus on shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, and workforce execution. This role supervises hourly associates, coordinates closely with transportation partners, ensures operational targets are met, and drives continuous improvement across safety, quality, service, and cost. The Operations Supervisor plays a key role in delivering reliable customer service while maintaining efficient and well-organized distribution center operations.
Daily Operations & Issue Resolution
- Oversee daily warehouse operations with primary responsibility for shipping, receiving, International and outbound activities.
- Resolve operational issues such as order discrepancies, labor constraints, material shortages, and carrier delays.
- Ensure daily execution aligns with customer requirements, shipment deadlines, and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Prioritize labor and resources to meet standard and expedited customer demand.
Team Leadership & Workforce Management
- Supervise, train, coach, and support hourly operations associates.
- Coordinate labor through effective wave planning and workload balancing.
- Set goals and objectives; monitor performance, attendance, safety, and quality; address performance issues as needed.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and accountable work environment.
Transportation, Carrier & Customer Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers, brokers, and transportation partners.
- Coordinate pickups, deliveries, and problem resolution to ensure on-time shipment performance.
- Communicate shipment status, delays, and resolutions with internal teams and external customers.
- Manage and execute expedited and priority orders.
Inventory, Materials & Space Management
- Manage inventory and availability of operational materials including pallets, containers, racks, wrap, dunnage, and supplies.
- Ensure proper storage, tracking, and usage of materials to support uninterrupted operations.
- Maintain organized shipping, staging, and long-term finished goods storage areas.
Systems, Reporting & Documentation
- Execute accurate system transactions related to shipping, receiving, material movements, and goods issues.
- Ensure shipping/receiving documentation and records are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain operational data integrity within WMS/ERP systems.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, safety, and cost control.
- Support process improvements related to wave planning, labor utilization, material handling, and shipment consolidation.
- Participate in operational problem-solving and performance improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university OR high school diploma/GED with 5+ years of supervisory experience in warehouse, distribution, or shipping operations.
- Experience in distribution center or warehouse environments required.
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with WMS/ERP systems; Oracle experience preferred.
- Ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail required.

The salary rate for this role is currently $62100-85300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
