About the role
Waabi is an AI company focused on developing the next generation of self-driving technology.
The company is looking for a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to join their team in Toronto, San Francisco, or remotely in the US.
The role involves being part of a multidisciplinary team of Engineers and Researchers using an AI-first approach to enable safe self-driving at scale.
The engineer will build and maintain tools and workflows to empower software developers across the company to work and collaborate efficiently.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related engineering disciplines is required.
Candidates must have 5+ years of industry experience developing production quality software.
Experience using at least one compiled and one interpreted programming language is necessary, along with the ability to debug toolchain and dependency issues for both.
Proficiency with software development tools including build systems, version control, continuous integration, containers, packaging, profiling, debugging, code review, linting, test automation, and test coverage tools is required.
Experience working with container and cloud infrastructure and managing infrastructure-as-code is essential.
Candidates should have experience promoting best practices for effective software testing and empowering developers.
The ability to learn new technologies quickly is important.
Empathy for the users of the tools created and maintained is necessary.
Candidates must be open-minded, collaborative team players with a willingness to help others.
A passion for self-driving technologies, solving hard problems, and creating innovative solutions is required.
Bonus qualifications include experience with Bazel, Docker, Terraform, Rust, Python, Go, Cuda, C++, Github Actions, Ansible, or similar tools and languages, as well as experience in system-level debugging on native Linux and Docker systems, working with robotics or machine learning research teams, Agile/Scrum environments, and internal cross-functional partners/stakeholders.
