Role : Credit Risk Analyst/Underwriter
Designation: Vice President
Location : Chennai
Timing: 6.30PM-3.30AM (US Shift)
Key Responsibilities
● Lead the Credit Analyst team in India that underwrites deals for
the US market
● Work closely with the Credit Committee in New York to ensure
seamless functioning of the credit function
● Ensure quality of credit analysis, train and mentor the team to
ensure adherence to underwriting quality metrics
● Oversee daily underwriting pipeline and queues to ensure timely
movement, balanced workloads, and efficient resource
allocation.
● Serve as the first point of contact for escalated or complex
underwriting scenarios, providing guidance and resolving issues
to support smooth loan flow.
● Support and mentor underwriters by providing day-to-day
guidance, fostering development, and monitoring team
performance.
● Ensure underwriting decisions meet agency, investor, and
company guidelines while supporting risk management and
quality control initiatives.
● Ideate and execute process enhancements in the credit function
to help improve quality of analysis, and turnaround times
● Interact with clients and other stakeholders to gather feedback and
mentor the team accordingly
● Interact with Data Science team to help embed the latest in AI
and machine learning into our underwriting processes
● Interact with Trading team to ensure that loans are properly
structured to be placed on warehouse lines and into
securitizations
● Present hand-selected deals to investment committee for final
approval
Background/Experience:
● PG/Master’s degree from a premier college with a specialization
in finance, economics or a related field
● US CFA Level 2+ or FRM Level
2 is a must
● Experience in credit analysis, especially in the real estate
industry. Exposure to the US market will be an advantage
● Experience in leading a small team of highly skilled analysts
● Exposure to US or European clients and managing offshore
teams will be an advantage
● Strong written and oral communication skills
