About this post:
MantriAI is the search partner for this role. All applications come to us first. We screen and send only shortlisted profiles to the client.
The client is a profitable fintech company based in Indore. They work in retail investing and trading. Company name will be shared after the screening call.
The role:
VP of Engineering, reporting directly to the CTO. We want someone who has run engineering as a business function, not just shipped code — owns architecture, owns delivery, owns the numbers behind both, and is comfortable being the person paged when something breaks.
What you'll do:
- Lead backend, frontend, mobile, QA, automation and DevOps as one org. Hire, mentor and manage the people running each of these.
- Own the tech stack and architecture calls — scalability, security, performance, cost. Stay hands-on enough to make the hard calls yourself.
- Take engineering execution from technical planning to production release. Work with product and business to turn asks into real roadmaps.
- Own the engineering metrics that actually matter — cycle time, deployment frequency, defect leakage, MTTR, uptime — and show month-on-month movement on them, not just track them.
- Own Sev-0 and Sev-1 incidents end to end: response, root cause, and the fix that stops it happening again.
- Build the practices that don't exist yet — code review discipline, CI/CD, release process, documentation — from wherever they currently stand.
Who should apply:
- 10+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years directly managing engineering teams — not just tech-leading with reports.
- You've led more than one function yourself (say, backend and QA, or backend and mobile) — this isn't a first-time-manager seat.
- You've personally operated a product at real scale — genuinely run something serving 1 lakh+ daily user logins, with the on-call and incident scars to prove it.
- Deep hands-on background in C#/.NET. Preferred if you've since moved into a newer stack like Golang.
- Your resume has numbers — uptime, MTTR, deployment frequency, whatever engineering metric you personally tracked and moved.
- You use AI tools in your own workflow — code review agents, copilots, whatever. Tell us what and how.
- You speak Hindi comfortably — you'll be managing a local team in Indore day to day.
- Stable work history. Multiple short stints are not preferred.
Bonus:
- Experience in fintech, stock broking or another regulated industry. Strong experience here can relax the years-of-experience bar.
Read this before applying:
- Location: Indore, work from office. No remote, no hybrid.

Process:

- Final round with the CEO/Founder
- Offer, usually within 2 days of the final round
