About the role

The Verge is seeking an ambitious Product Manager to lead the launch and growth of new features and products aligned with editorial and business goals. In this role, you'll report directly to the Senior Creative Director, and work closely with other product managers across the broader Vox Media organization. You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining a strategic roadmap, guiding the development team to successfully deliver each project. You will collaborate extensively with stakeholders from editorial, design, and engineering teams, playing an active and hands-on role in identifying areas for improvement, planning the marketing of new products, as well as creating clear, detailed, user-friendly product documentation. Your efforts will ensure products are intuitive, visually appealing, timely, and effective. WHO WE ARE The Verge is an ambitious multimedia effort founded in 2011 to examine how technology will change life in the future for a massive mainstream audience. The Verge is part of Vox Media, the leading modern media company. We guide our audience from discovery to obsession. We inspire essential conversations about what's now, what's next, and what's possible. As a community of journalists and storytellers, business professionals, creators and technologists, we believe it is a moral and business imperative to amplify voices: to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and media. This applies to our candidates, our teams, our storytelling, our creative work, and our platforms, products, and partnerships. WHAT YOU'LL DO The product manager will lead the development of The Verge's frontend website, driving initiatives that directly support our annual goals. They'll champion our vision for Quick Posts, enhance the homepage experience for our loyal readership, support the growth of our subscription product, collaborate with talented Verge staffers to launch new email newsletters, and help prioritize improvements to our CMS and editorial tools. Partner with the Senior Creative Director to define and evolve the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with The Verge's mission and reader needs. Collaborate with partners across engineering, analytics, design, editorial, and project management teams at every stage of the product lifecycle, including research, ideation, launch, maintenance, and iteration. Work closely with the user research team to conduct user research and analyze market trends and competitive insights to inform feature development and prioritization. Turn editorial and business goals into actionable product requirements by maintaining a prioritized backlog, writing detailed tickets, and managing incoming bugs and user feedback. Track key performance indicators, gather qualitative and quantitative feedback, and use insights to optimize product performance and user experience. Actively contribute to team rituals (stand-ups, sprint planning, retros) while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and purpose-driven team culture. WHO YOU ARE The ideal candidate is passionate about tech journalism. You thrive in fast paced, collaborative environments and are excited to bridge the gap between editorial, design, and engineering teams. Naturally curious, you leverage both data and qualitative insights to inform decision making. You prioritize user needs and user-centric experiences, and are genuinely excited to build products that empower great journalism and storytelling.
