Front End Engineer

Accountabilities and Deliveries Contribute to the design and development of software components within a defined quality standard Define, implement and contribute to User Experience guidelines collaboratively for software products Resolve issues, defects and queries raised at any phase of development or production in a timely and professional manner Follow configuration management processes to deploy code Understand and follow the development processes, protocols, methods and tools Conduct quality reviews of own deliverables and deliverables from peers Provide sizing on technical development tasks Report progress regularly, escalating matters as appropriate Mentor and coach more junior members of staff Provide client support where necessary Build knowledge of latest technologies and processes Build knowledge of the clients' business in relation to products Build knowledge of products, relevant markets and regulatory requirements Key Relationships You will work very closely with your delivery team, typically comprising analysts, Quality Engineers and other Engineers, to deliver your joint project goals You will work closely with Product Managers to elicit and engineer a desirable user experience for the software products the team is responsible for. You will liaise with your engineering team lead, ensuring development is completed within agreed quality levels You will also work closely with other delivery teams and colleagues across the business, to ensure the overall project goals are successfully delivered You may be asked to discuss project matters with our clients Your engineering team lead will meet with you regularly to discuss your personal progress against objectives and development plan. Required Skills & Experience Javascript/Typescript - React CSS/Sass/Bootstrap UI Regression Testing Framework (Playwright) Automated Web Accessibility Testing (WCAG) GitHub Desirable Skills AWS (or other cloud computing provider) Remix/React-Router Webpack/Vite Test Driven Development Build pipelines - TeamCity/Buildkite Docker Knowledge and Attributes Experience of a project through the life cycle of development and into production Experience of developing and enhancing the user experience of web applications Knowledge and experience of developing within an object-oriented development environment Knowledge and experience of developing within an agile project framework Knowledge of source control, release management, testing and task management, working within a team environment (including application lifecycle management) Knowledge of Financial Services solutions (Mortgages, Life Insurance, Retirement, Wealth Mgt) Key Competencies You have good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) You are an analytical thinker, with a logical approach to solutions and problem solving You are able to work well under pressure and manage own time appropriately You are able to work well on an individual basis and within a team You are able to seek appropriate support from developer community / supporting peers You are self-motivated, proactive with a positive attitude You have a flexible approach and mind-set, and can adapt to changes in projects and priorities
