About the Role
The Licensed Clinician will provide direct therapeutic services, clinical support, and program development assistance for adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges.
This position plays a key role in developing innovative, community-based behavioral health services that reduce barriers to care and improve long-term outcomes for individuals experiencing housing insecurity.
You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, community partners, and behavioral health providers to deliver integrated, person-centered care while helping shape the future of behavioral health programming within VOA Michigan.
What You’ll Do
Clinical Services
- Provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches
- Conduct comprehensive mental health, biopsychosocial, and risk assessments
- Develop individualized, strengths-based treatment plans
- Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups related to trauma, substance use, coping skills, anger management, and recovery
- Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and emergency coordination when needed
Care Coordination & Advocacy
- Help individuals navigate behavioral health systems and access critical services
- Coordinate referrals for psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and higher levels of care
- Collaborate with community mental health agencies and interdisciplinary teams
- Build strong relationships through consistent visibility, trust, and community engagement
Program Development & Leadership
- Provide clinical guidance and behavioral health consultation to staff and teams
- Support team meetings, training initiatives, and professional development
- Assist with program design, evaluation, data collection, and continuous improvement efforts
- Contribute to innovative solutions that improve outcomes for vulnerable populations
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Current Michigan licensure as one of the following:
- LMSW
- LLMSW
- LPC
- LLP
- LP
Or equivalent independent licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with Veterans and/adults experiencing behavioral health or housing challenges
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License
- Ability to meet credentialing requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with housing insecure or underserved populations
- Experience with trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, CBT, and evidence-based practices
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis management skills
- Experience working within interdisciplinary and community-based settings
