Voice Platform Engineer Backend (AI Voice Systems)

About the Role
We are looking for a Voice Platform Engineer (Backend) to design, build, and scale AI-powered voice systems. The ideal candidate will have experience building backend services that power voice assistants, speech pipelines, or real-time conversational AI systems. You will work closely with AI/ML engineers, product teams, and infrastructure teams to deliver highly scalable voice-enabled applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services and APIs that support AI voice platforms and conversational systems.
- Build and maintain real-time voice pipelines including speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and conversational orchestration.
- Integrate third-party and internal AI/ML voice models into scalable backend systems.
- Optimize systems for low latency, high throughput, and reliability in real-time voice interactions.
- Work with streaming technologies for real-time audio processing.
- Develop microservices-based architectures for voice applications.
- Collaborate with ML engineers to deploy and scale speech models.
- Monitor, debug, and improve performance of voice processing pipelines.
- Ensure high availability, observability, and security of backend systems.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in backend engineering.
- Strong programming experience in Python, Go, or Node.js.
- Experience building scalable distributed systems and microservices.
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs / gRPC services.
- Experience with real-time streaming systems (Kafka, WebSockets, or similar).
- Familiarity with speech technologies such as Speech-to-Text (STT) and Text-to-Speech (TTS).
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployments.
- Understanding of low-latency systems and real-time communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with voice assistants or conversational AI platforms.
- Familiarity with frameworks like Rasa, Dialogflow, or similar conversational AI tools.
- Experience with WebRTC or real-time audio streaming.
- Understanding of LLMs and AI-driven conversational systems.
- Exposure to audio processing libraries.
Nice to Have
- Experience building AI agent or voice bot platforms.
- Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
- Experience with scalable event-driven architectures.
