Role Description The VMC/VTL Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Coimbatore South. The operator will set up, operate, and monitor Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) and Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL) to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Daily responsibilities include preparing machines and tools, loading and unloading workpieces, adjusting cutting parameters, and ensuring optimal machine performance. The role involves inspecting parts using measuring instruments, maintaining dimensional accuracy and surface finish, and documenting production data. The operator will also perform routine machine maintenance, follow safety and quality standards, coordinate with supervisors and engineers on production issues, and support continuous improvement in machining processes.
Qualifications
- Ability to set up and operate VMC and VTL machines, including selecting appropriate tools, fixtures, and cutting parameters.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, machining process sheets, and basic CNC controls.
- Skills in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other quality inspection tools.
- Understanding of machining processes, cutting speeds and feeds, tooling, and basic troubleshooting of machine issues.
- Knowledge of shop floor safety practices, 5S, and adherence to quality and production standards.
- Minimum ITI/Diploma in Mechanical or related discipline; equivalent experience in machining operations will be considered.
- Prior experience as a VMC/VTL operator in a manufacturing or engineering environment is preferred.
- Ability to work in shifts, follow instructions accurately, collaborate with team members, and maintain production documentation.
