About Quantum SMT Technologies:
Quantum SMT Technologies Pvt Ltd is a Gurugram-based company specializing in the design and manufacture of Functional Circuit Testing (FCT) machines for the automotive electronics industry. We build custom test solutions for components like LED tail lamps and other electronic assemblies used in vehicles.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a skilled VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Programmer who can write CNC programs, set up machines, and produce precision-machined components used in our test fixtures and machine assemblies. This person will be responsible for translating engineering drawings into machined parts with tight tolerances. If you love making high-quality parts and taking ownership of the machining process from drawing to finished component, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities:
• Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G-code and M-code) for VMC machines to manufacture precision components.
• Read and interpret 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models to plan machining operations.
• Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and cutting parameters (speed, feed, depth of cut) for different materials (aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel, brass, acetal/Delrin).
• Set up VMC machines including work-holding, tool offsets, and work coordinate systems.
• Perform first-article inspections and ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances as per drawings.
• Maintain and optimize existing CNC programs for improved cycle times and surface finish.
• Coordinate with the design team to provide DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep the work area organized.
• Maintain records of programs, tool life, and production output.
Required Qualifications:
• 2–5 years of hands-on experience programming and operating VMC machines.
• Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming (manual programming is a must).
• Experience with at least one CNC controller: FANUC, Siemens (Sinumerik), Mitsubishi, or Haas.
• Ability to read engineering drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Knowledge of cutting tools, tool holders, and work-holding methods.
• Experience machining a variety of materials.
• Proficiency with measuring instruments: vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators.
• Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, or CNC Technology.
Nice to Have:
• Experience with CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360 CAM, SolidCAM) for complex 3D programming.
• Knowledge of 4th-axis or multi-axis machining.
• Experience with EDM (Wire/Sinker) or other secondary processes.
• Familiarity with fixture design for machining.
• Experience working in a job-shop or prototype manufacturing environment (not just mass production).
What You'll Get:
• Variety — you'll work on a wide range of precision parts for different test machines, not repetitive mass production.
• Ownership of the machining process from drawing to finished component.
• A well-maintained workshop and a supportive engineering team to collaborate with.
Location: Gurugram, Haryana (on-site, shop floor).
Employment Type: Full-time.
Experience: 2–5 years.
To apply, please share your CV along with examples of any complex parts or programs you have worked on (photos or program snippets welcome).
