Role Description The VMC Programmer is a full-time, on-site role based in Dera Bassi. The role involves creating and optimizing VMC (Vertical Machining Center) programs for complex sheet metal and machined components, ensuring accurate dimensions and efficient machining cycles. Daily responsibilities include interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tools and cutting parameters, setting up and proving out programs on machines, and coordinating with operators to resolve technical issues. The VMC Programmer will monitor production quality, troubleshoot machining problems, and update programs to improve cycle time, tool life, and part accuracy. This role also includes maintaining documentation, adhering to safety and quality standards, and collaborating with production and quality teams to meet delivery timelines.
Qualifications
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience programming and setting up VMC/CNC machines, including tool selection and parameter optimization.
- Knowledge of machining processes for sheet metal and CNC components, along with basic understanding of cutting tools and materials.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and G-code, as well as basic computer skills for program management and reporting.
- Attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and ability to troubleshoot machining and dimensional issues on the shop floor.
- Ability to work on-site in Dera Bassi, collaborate with operators and supervisors, and meet production deadlines.
- Relevant technical qualification such as ITI, Diploma, or equivalent in Mechanical, Production, or related field; prior experience in a fabrication or machining environment is preferred.
