Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a VMC Programmer-Setter based in Bengaluru. The role involves creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs for Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) to produce turbine engine parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. The VMC Programmer-Setter will set up machines, select tools and fixtures, perform offset adjustments, and conduct first-piece approvals. Daily tasks include verifying programs through dry runs, monitoring machining operations, inspecting parts using measuring instruments, and making necessary corrections to maintain accuracy and productivity. The individual will also collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to improve machining processes, minimize rework, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science principles relevant to CNC programming and manufacturing automation.
- Proficiency in Programming concepts, including Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), to understand and work with CAM/CNC software and related systems.
- Experience with Software Development or Back-End Web Development is beneficial for integrating machining workflows with digital manufacturing or ERP/MES systems.
- Hands-on experience in VMC programming and setting, including tool selection, fixture setup, and optimization of machining parameters.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and process documents.
- Familiarity with CNC controllers (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, or similar) and CAM software used for toolpath generation.
- Knowledge of precision measurement tools (vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM basics) and quality inspection practices.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively on the shop floor, follow standard operating procedures, and support shift or extended hours as needed.
