Role Description The VMC Operator will be responsible for operating and monitoring Vertical Machining Centers to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and job specifications. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Aurangabad, requiring consistent coordination with production, quality, and maintenance teams. Daily tasks include setting up tools and workpieces, loading and unloading components, running CNC/VMC programs, and ensuring parts meet dimensional and surface finish requirements. The role also involves performing basic offsets and adjustments, inspecting parts using measuring instruments, and completing production and quality records. The VMC Operator will be expected to maintain machine cleanliness, follow safety procedures, report any machine or tooling issues, and support continuous improvement activities on the shop floor.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience operating VMC/CNC machining centers, including setting tools, loading programs, and running production cycles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, job cards, and basic GD&T symbols.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and dial indicators for in-process inspection.
- Basic knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, and common materials used in precision manufacturing.
- Understanding of shop floor safety practices, housekeeping, and adherence to quality procedures and work instructions.
- Minimum ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or a related trade, or equivalent hands-on shop floor experience.
- Ability to work in shifts, stand for extended periods, and handle repetitive tasks with accuracy and consistency.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving approach to dimensional or surface finish issues, and willingness to learn advanced machining techniques.
- Team-oriented mindset with clear communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, quality inspectors, and maintenance personnel.
- Prior experience in an automotive or precision components manufacturing environment in Aurangabad or similar industrial hubs is an advantage.
