Role Description The VMC Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru North. The individual will be responsible for operating Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) to produce precision metal components according to engineering drawings and process sheets. Day-to-day tasks include machine setup, loading and unloading workpieces, selecting and installing tools, and adjusting machining parameters to achieve required tolerances and surface finish. The role involves monitoring machine operations, conducting basic inspections with measuring instruments, and reporting any deviations or equipment issues. The VMC Operator will collaborate closely with supervisors and quality teams, maintain safety and housekeeping standards, and support continuous improvement in productivity and quality.
Qualifications
- CNC/VMC operation skills, including machine setup, tool selection, and basic program handling.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
- Basic knowledge of machining processes, cutting parameters, and different grades/types of tooling.
- Understanding of quality standards, dimensional inspection, and documentation practices in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Commitment to safety practices, machine maintenance basics, and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to follow standardized procedures and work instructions.
- Relevant vocational training or ITI/Diploma in Mechanical or related field; prior experience in aerospace or turbine components manufacturing is an advantage.
- Willingness to work in shifts, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and adapt to changing production priorities.
