Job Purpose
To operate Vertical Machining Centres (VMC), Horizontal Machining Centres (HMC), and Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL) to machine components as per approved drawings, process sheets, and quality requirements, while ensuring safety, productivity, and machine upkeep.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate VMC, HMC, and VTL machines in accordance with production schedules and work instructions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and machining specifications.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished components safely.
- Set up fixtures, clamps, tools, and workpieces as per process requirements.
- Perform tool offset and wear compensation as required.
- Verify component dimensions using measuring instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometres, Bore Gauges, Height Gauges, and Dial Indicators.
- Ensure components meet dimensional and visual quality requirements before forwarding to the next process.
- Monitor machine performance and report any abnormalities to the supervisor or maintenance team.
- Maintain proper coolant levels, lubrication, and machine cleanliness.
- Carry out routine autonomous maintenance and daily machine inspection.
- Record production quantities, rejection details, machine downtime, and tool consumption.
- Handle tools, fixtures, and measuring instruments with care.
- Achieve daily production targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Assist in machine setup and changeover activities whenever required.
Experience
1. Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in CNC machining.
2. Mandatory experience in manual programming and operating at least two of the following CNC machines:
- Vertical Machining Center (VMC)
- Horizontal Machining Center (HMC)
- Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL)
