Job description
Job Title: Visual Communication Designer
Location: Godrej Genesis, Kolkata
As a Visual Communication Designer at Graphē, you will play a crucial role in visually translating ideas, strategies, and brand narratives into compelling design solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that every design communicates the intended message in the most effective, efficient and aesthetically strong manner across platforms. This role requires a balance of creativity, strategic thinking, technical expertise, and a strong understanding of branding and audience behaviour.
You will be responsible for creating platform-centric designs, marketing collaterals, branding assets and packaging designs, while maintaining consistency in brand language and visual identity. Daily tasks will include understanding briefs, conceptualising design directions, executing creatives, coordinating with internal teams and staying updated with design trends, tools and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Design and Visual Communication
- Develop visually engaging and platform-centric social media creatives that resonate with the target audience while maintaining brand consistency.
- Design all types of graphics (static) required to visually communicate marketing messages, campaign ideas, and brand stories effectively.
- Create trendsetting, fresh, and innovative designs that stand out and push creative boundaries.
- Take ownership of your work, ensuring high-quality, polished designs that align with project objectives and timelines.
- Collaborate with marketing, content, and strategy teams to understand project briefs and develop visually compelling solutions.
- Design packaging that communicates brand essence, product information, and creates strong shelf presence.
- Understand the objective of each design and execute creatives based on platform, audience, and communication goals.
Branding and Design Strategy
- Understand and contribute to the development of brand identities, ensuring consistent brand language across all visual touchpoints.
- Create designs that not only reflect brand values but also cater to specific target audiences, considering cultural and market nuances.
- Collaborate closely with brand managers, social media managers, and marketing teams to align design strategies with marketing objectives.
- Work on brand development projects including logos, brand guidelines, visual systems, and brand collaterals.
Innovation and Trend Awareness
- Stay updated with the latest design trends, digital marketing trends, and industry innovations to bring fresh ideas and perspectives.
- Continuously challenge yourself to create unique and non-repetitive design solutions.
- Research global design trends, typography trends, layout styles, and visual communication methods.
- Integrate AI tools and generative design techniques to enhance creative output, streamline workflows, and explore new creative possibilities.
Tools, Workflow and Execution
- Be well-versed with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Figma and understand which tool to use based on the requirement.
- Use AI tools for ideation, reference building, image generation, and automating repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and output quality.
- Prepare files correctly for print, digital, and production based on project requirements.
- Maintain organised file structures and follow proper design workflows.
Organisation, Responsibility and Communication
- Take complete responsibility for assigned projects and ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain discipline, organised workflows, and proper documentation of design files and versions.
- Communicate clearly with team members to ensure smooth workflow and project execution.
- Be proactive in problem-solving and finding design solutions rather than just executing instructions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating social media creatives, branding, layout design, and packaging design.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma, and familiarity with AI design tools.
- Strong understanding of typography, layout, colour theory, branding, and visual hierarchy.
- Understanding of platform-centric design (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Websites, Print).
- Basic knowledge of print processes and packaging design is preferred.
- Illustration skills are a plus.
- Knowledge of motion graphics or 3D is a strong plus.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
