Job details:
If you want to build a career creating meaningful brand communication in a fast-growing industry, this role offers the right platform.
Exp: 2 - 5 Years
Apply only if you possess the required skills and relevant experience mentioned below.
This is a Chennai based job and we prefer to look for candidates only from Chennai location.
1. THE ROLE
iSTEEL is a premium TMT steel brand, and we take pride in how we communicate. Every dealer poster, every WhatsApp creative, every scheme announcement, every hoarding is a brand moment – and we want each one to reflect the quality and care that goes into our product. For us, good design is not a nice-to-have. It’s how our dealers, influencers, and the trade experience the brand every day.
As iSTEEL’s footprint grows – more dealers, more influencers, more schemes, more markets – the volume of communication is growing with it. This role sits at the heart of that growth. We’re looking for a designer who genuinely cares about clean layouts, sharp typography, and a consistent visual language – someone who can maintain that standard across high volumes and fast timelines, day after day.
This is a hands-on production role where speed and accuracy matter as much as aesthetics. But we also want real design sensibility – because how iSTEEL looks and feels in the market reflects directly on the brand. If you’re someone who enjoys working with AI tools to move faster and produce more, who takes pride in getting the details right, and who finds satisfaction in seeing your work show up across thousands of touch-points – this role is built for you.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Creative Design, Adaptation & Production
• Adapt master creatives into multiple formats: dealer posters, scheme creatives, shop branding materials, hoardings, wall painting layouts, counter displays, and point-of-sale materials.
• Resize, localize, and customize creatives for different markets, dealer segments, and regional requirements – including Tamil and English adaptations.
• Create original design layouts for day-to-day requirements where master templates do not exist – internal announcements, event invites, certificates, and presentations.
• Prepare print-ready files with correct specifications, bleed, colour profiles (CMYK/Pantone), and resolution for every output format.
• Maintain a premium visual standard in every piece of output. Clean composition, purposeful use of white space, consistent typography, and a visual tone that reflects iSTEEL’s positioning.
B. Dealer, Trade & Scheme Communication
• Design and produce creatives for dealer scheme announcements, growth incentive programs, trade circulars, pricing updates, and policy communication.
• Create dealer-specific personalized collateral where required – name boards, achievement recognitions, scheme tracking visuals, and milestone certificates.
• Ensure every scheme creative is cross-checked for accuracy: pricing, dates, offer terms, eligibility criteria, and dealer names must be error-free before release.
C. Digital Communication
• Design WhatsApp-optimised creatives for trade updates, scheme launches, festival greetings, product highlights, and field team communication.
• Produce creatives for digital distribution: social media content for trade and influencer audiences, e-mailers, and internal communication visuals.
• Design communication for influencer engagement programmes – loyalty programme visuals, tier announcements, event invitations, reward communications, and field-ready materials like product comparison charts and specification sheets.
• Maintain a library of ready-to-use templates for recurring communication needs – price updates, scheme reminders, event countdowns, and congratulatory posts.
D. Print & Retail Branding
• Manage production files for retail branding: shop boards, glow signs, flanges, shelf strips, counter mats, and in-shop display materials.
• Coordinate with vendors and printers on specifications, material types, and file formats to ensure output quality matches the brand standard.
• Maintain a master asset library of logos, brand elements, fonts, colour codes, and approved templates for quick access and consistency.
E. Accuracy, Quality Control & Brand Consistency
• Own the final check on every creative before release. Zero-error output on pricing, scheme details, dates, names, offer terms, and contact information is non-negotiable.
• Maintain version control of all creatives – track revisions, approvals, and final released versions systematically.
• Follow iSTEEL brand guidelines strictly across all communication – colours, fonts, logo usage, spacing, and visual tone.
• Ensure uniformity across all output formats: what works on a WhatsApp creative must feel like the same brand on a 20-foot hoarding.
F. Coordination & Workflow
• Manage daily design requests from the marketing team, field teams, and sales leadership. Prioritise based on urgency and business impact.
• Maintain a structured workflow: brief intake, design, internal review, correction, and final release – with clear turnaround commitments.
• Coordinate with external vendors, printers, and signage fabricators when physical production is involved.
• Flag unclear briefs or inconsistencies before production begins. Ask questions upfront rather than fixing errors after release.
3. REQUIRED SKILLS
Design Tools
• Adobe Illustrator – mandatory. This is the primary tool for most production work.
• Adobe Photoshop – for image editing, retouching, and composite work.
• Canva or similar tools for quick adaptations and day-to-day social content.
Production Knowledge
• Print production: file formats, bleed, CMYK vs. RGB, resolution, Pantone references, and vendor-ready file preparation.
• Digital formats: aspect ratios, compression, WhatsApp and social media sizing, and screen-optimised output.
Design Sensibility
• A genuine eye for layout, typography, colour, and visual hierarchy. Your work should look considered, not just completed.
• Understanding that iSTEEL is a premium brand – everything we put out should reflect that positioning. Clean, modern, and intentional.
AI & Digital Tools
• Actively uses AI tools in daily design workflow – for image generation, background removal, resizing, layout suggestions, copy drafting, and content variations.
• Comfortable exploring and adopting new AI tools as they emerge. This is a fast-moving space and we want someone who stays curious.
• Examples of tools we expect familiarity with: Adobe Firefly, Mid journey or similar image generation tools, ChatGPT or Claude for copy and content support, and batch processing/automation tools.
Language
• Fluency in Tamil and English. Must be able to check and adapt bilingual creatives for accuracy and readability.
4. CANDIDATE PROFILE
• 2–5 years of experience in graphic design, with a focus on production and execution – ideally in retail brands, FMCG, building materials, print design, or creative agencies.
• A portfolio that shows range and volume – we value a body of work that demonstrates daily execution across multiple formats while maintaining a consistent visual quality.
• Strong design aesthetic – someone who naturally gravitates toward clean, well-composed, modern design and takes pride in how their work looks.
• Sharp attention to detail – the kind of person who catches a wrong date, a misaligned element, or a colour that’s slightly off before anyone else does.
• Comfortable with same-day turnarounds and shifting priorities – enjoys a fast-paced work environment.
• AI-native – already uses AI tools (image generation, content drafting, batch processing) as a natural part of how you design. This is not optional or a bonus – it’s core to how we expect this role to operate.
• Good communicator – takes briefs well, asks clarifying questions, and proactively keeps stakeholders updated on progress.
5. GOOD-TO-HAVE
• Experience in the building materials, construction, or allied industry – understanding of dealer networks, trade schemes, and how communication flows in a distribution-led business.
• Exposure to retail branding production: shop boards, point-of-sale materials, and vendor coordination.
• Basic video editing or motion graphics skills (e.g., After Effects, CapCut, Premiere Pro) for short-form content and reels.
• Experience with project management or asset management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana, Google Drive workflows).
• Photography skills for product shots, event documentation, or field team content.
6. WHY iSTEEL
• You’ll own the visual voice of a premium brand. Your work will be visible across thousands of dealer points, sites, and digital channels – real impact, every day.
• You’ll work in a fast-paced, execution-driven team where your output has direct business impact and you’ll see your work in the market quickly.
• We invest in AI tools and encourage you to use them. If you’re the kind of designer who’s excited about working smarter with technology, you’ll enjoy this environment.
• Real growth opportunity: as iSTEEL’s market presence scales, so will the scope of this role.
