About the role

The Communication Specialist/Graphic Designer is a dual-role professional responsible for creating visually compelling and written content that supports the university's branding, marketing, and communication strategies. This role requires strong graphic design skills combined with writing and editing abilities to produce integrated communication materials across print, digital, and multimedia platforms. The Specialist will work closely with internal departments to ensure all university messaging is aligned with brand standards and strategic goals. Responsibilities Develop print and digital designs for promotional materials including brochures, flyers, posters, email graphics, banners, presentations, and web/social media visuals. Ensure all visual content adheres to the university's brand guidelines. Coordinate production of print materials with vendors and internal stakeholders. Create templates and style guides for internal use. Write, edit, and proofread content for internal and external communications such as newsletters, announcements, websites, and promotional campaigns. Collaborate with the communications team to develop key messages for university initiatives, academic programs, and events. Assist in creating scripts, captions, and headlines for digital storytelling and social media platforms. Design and write marketing collateral in support of enrollment, advancement, and student engagement efforts. Support campaigns with a blend of strong messaging and engaging visuals tailored to various audiences (prospective students, alumni, donors, faculty/staff). Manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines while maintaining high-quality output. Partner with departments across campus to understand their communication needs and deliver effective design and messaging solutions. Education Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or related field. 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in graphic design and communications, preferably in higher education or nonprofit environments. Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
