Investment Analyst - Contractor, Remote, Home based

Village Capital, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting diverse, seed-stage, impact-driven startups, is seeking a contractor to provide support to Village Capital's Impact Investment team for four months. The contractor will help support sourcing and screening efforts in India and Sub-Saharan Africa related to Village Capital's work, particularly focused on innovations in health equity and healthcare worker-focused solutions. The contractor should be experienced in sourcing and evaluating early-stage companies in India and/or Sub-Saharan Africa, ideally with a focus on healthcare or health equity, and should have fluency in English. Scope of Work The contractor is expected to complete the following deliverables, in collaboration with the Impact Investments team: Sourcing Conducting market research and analysis to understand market needs, available solutions, and existing business models in the health equity and healthcare worker space in India and Sub-Saharan Africa, leveraging existing landscape analyses. Leverage local networks and other sourcing strategies to identify high-potential Pre-Series A to Series A-stage companies aligned with an investment thesis. Screening eputnZx BIpnb Conduct screening calls with newly identified pipeline opportunities, engaging directly with founders and management teams to gather relevant information, understand business models, and evaluate alignment with investment thesis. Screen identified companies against defined investment criteria, including assessing product-market fit, scalability, financial viability, team strength, and impact potential. Draft one-page memos to present promising potential investment opportunities. Team Coordination: Participate in weekly meetings (4 x month) with the program team to share newly sourced companies, determine which to advance to screening and any additional feedback. Manage active pipeline records by tracking new additions, updating status, activity, and notes in a central database.
